Props and a Halfback

I'll go with Galloway, Woods, Cashmere,Bell, Groat, Pettybourne & Thompson at prop & probably play Benji Marshall at halfback- reckon he's a little better than the other options available.

I might be tempted to play either Anasta, Sironen or Moltzen at 5/8 too- again, better than the likes of Sammut & Robson IMO.

Yeah, reckon that's probably who I'd go with…grass isn't always greener & what-not..

Good God!!!

Bell is a lock or second row, Thompson is a centre or second row, Pettybourne is second row and Benji (a very bad halfback) is a five eight.

So, that is playing four out of 13 players (if they all start) out of position. Good one.

First focus for next year should be some bench props -with Cashmere and Bell off contract and Moors as well all we have is Woods, Galloway and Groat - we need at least 2 props to support that Justin Poore perhaps

Adam Reynolds or Shaun Johnson next year.

Pretty sure Johnson is locked up for 3 years with warriors. Souths aren't dumb enough to let Reynolds get away. The value of a good halfback is pretty high. We can't be buying a whole bunch of blairs and Lewis's and so forth and be able to afford a quality halfback.

I don't get to see the junior grades anymore, who is comming through? for any team not just WT.

We need a half back desperately.

Maybe we should have picked up Luke Kelly. What's going on with Chisolm? Surely he deserves a shot - has he been that bad for BRET?

Bell was signed as a Prop/2nd Rower from Penrith, Pettybourne plays Prop/2nd Row at Souths & Benji's been playing half nearly all season. I disagree that he's a 'bad' halfback- I actually think he's much improved at #7 from his previous attempts.

Maybe things would be much better if the Tigers went & bought up all the available free agents though…I mean- can you imagine the IMPACT Robson would have? He'd have to be a State of Origin possibility wouldn't he? And Poore...raging success the last few years- lets grab him too...

I don't think we need a 7 and props. I think those areas are where we are pretty strong. I think we need a quality backrower and we need to get some speed out wide.

I think we can choose some good players out wide from what we have in the lower grades but we need a player to replace Ellis. Blair is alright but he isn't a gun 2nd rower.

Our props are Woods and Galloway. I mean these are great players. To add to that you have a bunch of players who can slot into prop off the bench including BMM, Bell, Groat, Cashmere, Moors and possibly more.

Our backrow consists of Heighno, Blair and Fulton with possibly the same bench players listed as prop options on the bench. All 3 are not bad players but we really need a high quality player with impact there.

I hope Miller gets a fair shake at the #7 next year… obviously Sheens plans to stick with Benji at 7 for the rest of this year,

Isn't he off contract? I would love him to be given a shot, but over a period of 6 weeks and not 6 minutes. To be honest I have no problem with Benji now at half given that he doesn't have a running game anymore. If he would run then 5/8 is his go, but if he wont then a hard running Curtis is far more effective.

Sorry Smurfy but Miller is not in the coach's plans of playing any NRL any time soon for the Tigers.

The problem with those props you mention is that Bell, Cashmere and Moors are all off contract and haven't been resigned , groat has never made an impact in first grade so only Ben Murdoch masiala fits the prop category behind woods and Galloway so I'm guessing you would be happy next year playing games with Groat and Big Ben as our starting props and only back rowers on the bench because props get injured - hence Galloway, cashmere and bell all missing games this year

Justin Poore would be a perfect fit. He's played some good footy lately and he wouldn't cost much more then a beer and a pie

He's on megabucks at Parra. They'll want more than he's worth.

We will not win anything without a "proper" halfback.

We have the best half in the NYC playing for us and yet dopey does not seem to want to have anything to do with him.

Another reason that we need changes. Starting at the top.

Guys,

Does anyone know Chad Townsend's contract status??

I thought he played pretty good for Cronulla against Penrith last night…..

Seemed to have good ball playing skills and a good kicking game.

He seems not to be able to crack it for First Grade with Robson and Carney.

Thoughts.....????

Off contract next year.

Thanks for that….

I just feel he's the type of halfback we need, who would be a good foil for Benji.

Tradesman like player with good defence and a good kicking game.
