Put it in perspective.....

Well fellow forumers, once again we have had a game where we could have won it with some luck. The refs calls didn't go our way and we came away with yet another loss which is heading us toward the trophy at the bottom of the ladder…Oh dear...

Ok,now let's all be honest and sincere and have a good think about what was said by many at seasons start...we won't win the premiership this year but if we finish bottom four, then we have had a reasonable year with the roster we have...

Taylor was given everything he wanted without his hands being tied,he has little injury, not like the ones that plagued Potter,no signings till 2017 he has said, developement of the young halves will be the key, they are our future...

Now let's see where we are at...no top quality players except Farah,Woods Tapau,Lawrence and of course Big Kiethy make up a forward pack..
Noofa,Simona,Brooks,Moses Teddy,Kev are our quality backline...throw in Pat for his kicking skills..this is the core of our team and when Sirro gets back it will take him a little time to get back into it we should have a REASONABLE team to field most weekends..

However, with Simona,Noofa,Sirro all sidelined and absolutely no depth to pick from, bar a few fringe State Cuppers at best,Taylor has to coach them to play to a structure that they haven't really gotten used to,with some of the players barely out of nappies and playing against seasoned NRL quality players...and yes look at Parras team last night,a hell of a lot more experience in the forwards and backs than what we had.. Then really the effort last night wasn't that bad that we all have to put each other on suicide watch..

I know everyone is calling for Taylor's head and yet if we all stop and have a good hard think, did we really expect much different, maybe this could be the wake up call the club has needed to show that we must recruit quality players to play quality football, otherwise this is what we have for a few years yet..I know we need money, but surely the club can find some way of getting the finance we need to buy at least a couple of quality players so as we don't have to rely on kids or reserve grade players to win at NRL level, they have proven it will take time to get to that level if they make it at all..

Before I send JT to the gallows,I honestly thinks he needs to be given the chance to prove what he can do within his 3 year tenure, especially with some good recruits ......

Personally I think that we are still only part way towards turning this joint around.
1\. Sweeping changes to the WT board - tick
2\. New coach - tick
3\. New S&C team - tick
4\. New football dept manager - tick
5\. New CEO - not quite a tick yet
6\. Playing roster - cross

I think that our coach & football manager need to do a full & proper review of our playing roster (NRL squad & NSW Cup) now that they've had first hand experience with them

The term "plodders" has been used extensively over the last month or more. We have too many of them. For whatever reason look at players we let go and who we've kept over the last couple of seasons. Not one let go was a superstar but look at their status now since they've gone to greener pastures. All improvers.
Koro
Austin
Thompson
Naivouyaro???
Et al

They still wouldn't be on huge money but boy wouldn't they make a difference to this lot. I believe that other clubs have bargain buys but we still need to invest in one or two big names shortly too or we will crucify any chance that our "top juniors" will have to become top first graders.

Your ticks for 2,3 and 4, are they the right people to be in those positions? Its great we have the change but are they the people we need to get the job done?

Unfortunately JT has said nothing recruitment wise will happen until his third year….expect the same people next year, hopefully playing better.
JT will have one year to work with alleged new recruits, knowing the way WTs recruit, and looking into my crystal ball for the remainder of this year and next, recruiting will be harder than teaching this mob how to play footy...we rarely attract anyone of note. Why?
Our boards propped up by the NRL
We have home grounds everywhere.
Coach is not attractive to potential new recruits
History of instability
Our footy style isnt attractive
Our future training base is up in the air and god knows where.
Why would anyone come here when they can go to the city/eastern suburbs...cronulla or manly, souths
We need origin level leaders...we need three or four top shelf players to show our kids how its done, how to be a professional...our current origin players are in origin camp and on twitter whinging about refs penalty counts....I dont see much change for the better for a long long time im afraid

Sorry TT but I disagree with some of your assessments here. I wouldn't describe Lawrence or 'Big Keithy' as quality first grade players. Lawrence is only just finding his feet in the pack after really struggling in the centres and Galloway is a plodder in every sense of the word. I'd also add that Farah's diminishing skills and overbearing influence on the team have reduced him to an average hooker at best. Then there's our halves......overall struggling with Moses beginning to make strides but Brooks nowhere near the standard required of a first grade play maker. I'd add Sironen and Richards to the list of mediocrity too. Sirro's play, even allowing for the injuries, hasn't matched his hype and Pat is too slow and cumbersome for first grade now.... But I agree Woods, Taupau, Simona and Tedesco are all quality with Nofa showing potential. I really don't mean to seem negative here but if I am only half right, then we have a team that is lacking in overall quality. So that leads to the question.....are the poor results as a result of a lack of talent or a lack of proper coaching? My answer is both. I also agree that Taylor deserves more time to work things out. There's no doubt he's made some mistakes but will he learn from them?
