For years I have been hearing about how much better the Queensland Cup is than the NSW Cup.

How is it than that the Queensland Cup premiers were belted by the Balmain Ryde side in a trial match this year?

Missing NRL talent is not an excuse either as both sides were.

Who won the Origin curtain raiser up there this year? I can't recall if NSW got up or not. But that is a different kettle of fish, as it is representative footy from all teams of each competition.

Personally i don't believe the Qld Wizard Cup is an actual better competition than NSW State Cup, but i believe they have actual "better up and coming players" playing in their competition.
Also of note, their competition is rougher than ours. More along the lines of thuggery park footy played by has-beens.

The residents game depends where the game is played as to the result most years. When played in Queensland they use Queensland Cup reffs and visa versa.

They have alot of talented players. As you suggest CT probably more than the State Cup but their competition and standard of play is inferior overall.

Face it, the NSW state cup is a bitsa competition put together by whichever club can manage to put together a side to play in it.

The QLD Cup is made up mainly of sides with 3 teams in seniors (a grade, fogs & colts) and with links to their respective senior & junior local comps. As well as all teams having links to NRL sides (Broncos, Titans, Cowboys, Raiders, Eagles). Its clearly the 3rd best RL comp in the world, behind NRL & ESL.

Clearly? How so? That's just one person's opinion. Personally I don't think there is a huge difference in the quality of the two competitions.

State Cup sides also have strong links to their senior and junior comps.

Nothing changes the fact that the eventual premiers were comprehensively towelled by the side who finished the NSW Cup season 6th

Who? When?

BRET Trial match this season. Both sides were without NRL players

Against a side playing in their first pre-season together? With no NRL stars, no experience playing together and playing a trial match you'd expect them to get towelled wouldn't ya? Remember when Souths Logan took Wests Tigers to the wire at a trial match? 10 all at half time? What do you make of that?

If the NSW Cup is so good then why are NSW teams joining the QLD Cup???

Sheens playing players long minutes deliberatley for the most part.

If all else fails, blame Sheens. That should be the forums official motto. Its trotted out in every thread, even in a Qld Cup vs State Cup discussion.

How is it blaming Sheens when the best thing to do for round 1 lead up was to push the forwards fitness by making them play big minutes in hot conditions?

He did the same thing in the Foundation Cup that year as well

Manly has but Melbourne took their players out of Qld Cup. Majority of NRL teams have feeder teams playing NSW Cup including 3 of the final 4 teams.

Which teams from NSW are in the QLD Cup?

He means teams like Manly and Canberra who run feeder teams in the Qld Cup. Apart from the Qld based teams everyone else has teams in the NSW Cup.

Manly and Canberra only run teams in the Qld Cup because its cheaper for them than trying to partner with someone down here.
