Question for us all

What is the strongest evidence to explain why WT fans continue to be loyal fans , even when there are no rewards in it for us?
I suppose in a very real sense, the WT become a part of us. You just feel like whatever success it achieves is a personal success, and whatever failure it has is a personal failure.
Even if the team is losing, you have so much of yourself wrapped up in it that you can’t just walk away. To do so is to give up on a part of yourself..?

late night rambling...

Years of mismanagement has dampened the spirit of the entire fan base, you can gauge it from the posts here. Still no evidence that they've improved the side onfield. Releasing Jofa and not replacing him is woeful. What have we saved the money for?
Haven't signed anyone since Bateman, so 23 and 24 are doomed to more failure.
Shit Club

Yeah I’m still cranky about Joffa.
Money incentive aside, he was well liked, was a leader, busted his arse and more importantly, just signed his contract! Shocking for morale. Everyone put in for his last game and only a few have since.

No idea why I not only keep coming back, but prioritize watching live every week.

I definitely care about the outcome a lot less than I used to, only because I know we're not anywhere close to challenging for the premiership (or even just top 8).

It's kind of nice not stressing over results, but also miss having that passion.

It's actually a joke. Following a side, knowing that the power brokers can't assemble a team that can finish in the top half.

Exactly the kind of player intelligent managers would not release. But that's Wests Tigers.

The lies and deception is what gets me.

They bang on all summer about their new exciting attack planned for 23 and then we get this garbage that wouldn't trouble a u/16s team... The lies from management about not being involved in football matters despite obviously they are re: recruitment mgr situation... And the farce surrounding Joffa, releasing players with no obvious plan to replace them despite us anchored to the bottom of the ladder.
I don't know how peoe hand over their hard earned any more

You have to take what you can get mate.
We read all the fluff pieces about how our attack was going to usher in a new era as we flick pass our way to the finals.
Now we’re seeing the reality.
Sure our 4 wins from 25 games during the new era didn’t line up with most people’s expectations, but we cherish those wins more than any other fans of RL.
Nobody celebrates a win like Tiger’s supporters 😜

It is what it is for a genuine sports fan of a team, particularly one that often struggles, though still a little bit different for each of us. Some cheering for the underdog or clinging to 2005. Others with just missing out in 88/89 still burning within, and then the bird side to the "fibros" period or even the sixties.

Whichever it may be, WT have a large supporter base, including so so many not having even seen our foundation teams, and long may it continue, but we all need a finals appearance as it is getting beyond the joke stage.

Would agree with your thoughts.
I think the challenge is that our club is always talking about and planning for future success that never comes (think how many times since Marina Go they have told us to be patient because they have a 3 year plan).
As a fan, despite the skepticism these days, you always live in hope that the success they have planned for will arrive.
Alas, we are seemingly never in win now mode.

Been following Balmain/WT since 1990. I've seen them play finals four times in that time. I don't know any different.

One thing I do know, I have far less love for the game because of WT lurching from disaster to calamity year on year. I used to watch the majority of games every week. I only watch other games now if I've nothing better to do.

I think losing love for the game is more to do with getting older

Hearing you CB, I didn’t watch the game last night and doubt I’ll watch the replay after deciding to have a bbq and good conversation with friends.

I reckon losing sometimes makes you more of a supporter. In 05 I couldn't believe what happened and the following year the wins didn't feel as good.

If for instance you only ate weetbix with skim milk and no sugar I bet a decent meal tastes so freaken good.

All the losses make the wins feel sweeter.

Losing Api and Brooks though is a massive downer.

My grand father went to tigers first game at Birchgrove oval 1908 so its family tradition .We endure so much heartache
Got to find new class half even with Brooks
Got to find another class center (Averillo ? thoughts ?)
Got to fix leftside defence .Titans saw it as weakness and they scored first 2 tries there .
