My mates 40th is this Saturday, as a gift we tried to get his childhood heroes to film a short video to say happy birthday. Some we had to pay, Dean Jones did it for free and has it filmed in the studio of the show he was doing in India, even bringing in Brett Lee at the end. He filmed it only 3 days ago. Such a shock.

Wow - what great significance that will have now. A very special gift Avo.

I know, we were in the group chat yesterday all saying what a legend he was for making such an effort to do it and didn’t ask for anything in return. Was so happy to do it for a fan.

Massive part of the resurgence in Australian Cricket..

Can't be understated..

Feeling for Brett Lee as well who was there and performed CPR, I hope he knows you can only do your best in those situations.

Top Golfer as well ,RIP Deano

Did you ever hear the Deano / Don Bradman story

They were playing golf together and they reached this shortish Par 4 guarded by some massive trees

Bradman played save and said to Deano " When I was young I used to drive those trees ".....Deano pulls the driver out and crushes it ..hits the top of the tallest tree and drops into the hazard

As Deano was cursing the Don simply said "the tree were only 10 foot tall when I was young son"

Love that story

I'm glad other get what I mean by my first favourite cricketer, I didn't know if others would know what I meant. He is cricket from my first memories of the sport.

I know what you mean. The guy was a superstar in the 80s and for the first couple of years of the 90s, every young fella running around was Dean Jones in the backyard. Changed the game, quick singles, dashing runs. Exciting. I can only liken it to every young kid in the mid 2000s doing the Benji step in the backyard and "be like Mike" shooting hoops in the 90s.

Could throw the willow in an era of top line bowlers.

Changed the way ODI batsmen played.

RIP Deano.

Took on the West Indies at their best.

Just watched a vid of Deano telling the story of David Boons 52 beers. What a great story teller.

Was just talking about him with my dad at dinner - he had drinks at kings cross with deano, mere and tubby. Reckons there was a constant stream of ladies coming up to him.

Came back from dinner to the news. Tragic
