Race to escape the Bottom 4

I saw that. He is mathematically correct but I did a ladder predictor on how I thought the remainder of the season will go, and even if we win all our remaining games, I had us finishing 9th. So clearly we need to win them all and have a few results go our way

I think it is fair to say Twaly came near last in his Maths classes and top of his Religious class (believing in miracles).

Recently i would have been happy with 9 wins, that’s a 50% increase on wins each year from since Benji has been involved.
If the pattern continues we may finish on 13-14 wins next year!
However since the Dogs win there’s a chance we could be on equal points with Manly if we beat them in a fortnight’s time. That’s a pretty sweet result.

Historically there has not been a team to win 9 games and still pick up the spoon. Most being 8.
This is shaping up to be the closest season since 05 and wouldn’t surprise if the bottom team does net 3 more wins.

Love the optimism but seriously how many times have we backed up one good performance and when is the last time we went on a serious roll. Loved the win over the Dogs but I have been bitten to often to get excited.

I realistically I think we have two wins left in the tank and that is no certainty, but I think they have shown enough this season to be hopeful of a good 2026

We have beaten

3rd
7th
8th
9th

Come within 4 points of 1st, 4th and 5th.

Our position on the ladder is an absolute shame. Wish we could consistently get the small things right.

We have literally been in every game this year except the Storm one.

I hope we finish 9-10th and move forward next year, not backwards.

Fans always think of the narrow losses and believe they were "that close" to being much higher up the ladder. But that's not really accurate for the Tigers. Our for and against is by far the worst of the top 12 teams and while it's easy to remember the tough losses we've also jagged some scratchy wins: we absolutely burgled the Sharks at Leichhardt, scraped a win against the Roosters even though they scored more tries and had about 12 players out, and needed a field goal to get over the Titans.

You say we've been in every game except the Storm one, which is more or less fair (though I'd also include the 36-2 flogging by Penrith) but equally we haven't put many teams away. We're nine wins and 11 losses excluding Melbourne - more or less 50/50, which is pretty much what you'd expect.

On balance, 9th-13th is about right.

Agreed, for every hard done by loss there has been a lucky win. The St George game is the one I remember when they made a million line breaks to our couple and they dropped the pill over the line with no one around him.

Sure a bit more depth and another class player or two this season could have been the one to finally play final footy. It also has to be remembered that we have had a blessed run with injuries compared to a lot of teams. Also the injury toll some of the more fancied teams have had has made the comp the most even in years.

Don’t get me wrong, we have made big strides forward and Iam enthusiastic about next season. It is so important we continue our recent form for the remainder of the season

Yeah the injury thing has been bothering me - as in, if we're even somewhat unlucky with injuries next season it could make it tough to take the next step forward. That said, my suspicion is that most of the roster activity from here is going to be about shoring up players 18-25 on the list - making sure there's first-grade quality depth and we don't fall in a heap as soon as we get two or three injuries.

Apart from having the squad capable to be there when it matters - no team succeeds without some luck and the good fortune to keep their best players on the field more than off it.
Acknowledging the improvement is warranted.
