Raising questions.

1/ Do you think that our game is clean as they make it out to be, or are some players on performance enhancing drugs. Sometimes I think to myself, if they done a proper scanning of all the players the NRL might be left without a product.

2/ Same as the first question, but what is the real use of recreational drugs in our game.

3/ Why does the NRL and clubs come down on players that have a big night out on the drink. After all what they are doing is legal. If they have such an issue with drinking, why does the Aussie jersey have VB plastered on it and we also have the VB cup.

4/ Are dressing rooms bugged with listening devices, some teams really have a knack of turning things around at half time.

5/ Which clubs are over the salary cap and do they deserve financial help in troubled times. Cronulla is a special in this area. First they almost went belly up with no funds, now they are signing everyone, and most probably paying overs.

6/ Should there be a salary cap? I think there shouldn't, or at least double the current cap. I think we should have a product like EPL where the clubs can spend up if they can afford it. What would our game be like if we had all the worlds best best union players and the players from the ESL playing in the NRL. I know in the EPL there are always the top sides, but by trying to help some clubs that aren't as strong is really watering down the NRL product.

7/ Should the Referees front the media after the game along side the captains and coaches. I think so, they shouldn't be hidden, fans want answers.

Not sure if trolling or not. A lot of those are self explanatory really.

If the NRL ever gets like the EPL I will stop watching. No fun watching only 4 or so capable of winning the comp year after year…whoever has the most money wins the premiership, that sort of thing is crap and I wouldn't think too many Aussie sportslovers would ever want it to go down that path.
IMO the NRL has got it running pretty well in regards to the evenness of the comp- most years a few teams from near the bottom show up around finals time the year after, that is one of the real positive things to our RL competition

Or worse, the SPL… What a waste of time that comp is and will be for the next 3 years at least...

1\. Players are regularly tested. Not sure what else they can do.
2\. See question 1.
3\. It's what they do when they get tanked that is the issue, not the drinking.
4\. Are you serious? No.
5\. Don't know. Every club gets a fat grant that covers a lot of their budget
6\. Yes
7\. No.

1 & 2/ I know NRL players even the NYC are regularly tested but reality is that no sport is completely drug free.
Maybe instead of the NRL just testing on game days or big events, make testing compulsory any place, anywhere, anytime, 24/7?
At the same time though, disciplinary actions must be strongly enforced to uphold the reasoning behind 24/7 drug testing.
Keep athletes on their toes and make them think about their actions. It works for other sports, why not the NRL?

4/ Pfft NO! Do you think it could be for the simple fact they're a good coach who also knows how to connect and motivate their players?

3/ Really? OK so on the surface, alcohol consumption seems harmless, however, alcohol use and athleticism do not go hand in hand.
Alcohol is a diuretic that can cause severe dehydration and electrolyte imbalances and can take up to a week for full recovery meaning athletes are at a greater risk of injury. It can also lead to severe brain impairment and even death when coupled with extreme temperatures and intense practices. Dehydration causes decreased appetite and muscle wasting resulting in fatigue and decreased strength and performance. All in all an athlete is at greater risk for injuries.
Typically with binge drinkers alcohol can dramatically reduce testosterone levels which are associated with decreases in aggression, lean muscle mass, muscle recovery and overall athletic performance.
Alcohol will also impair reaction time and mental acuity for up to several days after consumption. It also impairs hand-eye coordination and judgement and interferes with lactic acid breakdown, increasing soreness after exercise.
It is also very fattening! Alcohol has 7 calories per gram - fat has 9 calories per gram……..need I say anymore?!
And finally, alcohol effects and athletes nutrition and quality of sleep; and we all know sleep is one of the most important components when it comes to performance as sleep is when the body most effectively recovers and repairs!

As for VB being a major sponsor….. Sport and alcohol plays a big part of Australian culture and sponsorship is not easy to obtain or consistently retain, so to have a company like CUB who have plenty of cash to throw around, the NRL would be suicidal not to have them on board.

6/ Do you even know why a salary cap is implemented? Its to balance the competition and evenly disburse the 'freakish talent' across all teams. Who would want to watch a game that's completely predictable and constantly one sided week in and week out? How boring and the game just wouldn't be sustainable.

7/ Yes changes must be made to erase major blunders like some of the WT? video ref decisions made this year but how they correct that I do not know.
As for fronting the media, absolutely not, this is not the answer to making Refs more accountable. What would you hope to get out of it?
Lets face it, Refs will never be winners or losers like teams post games, they will always be the dirty scapegoat that everyone loves to blame. And no matter what the Refs say or even how well they performed, the media will constantly focus on nothing but negativity and their own speculative media hyped 'scandal'!!
