Rank the Coaches

The NRL boasts some excellent wingers. Nofo does not compete with them.
Forget top 5 wingers, he wouldnt crack top 10 and most probably top 15 niether.
My top 10 wingers 2017 in no particular order…
Vunavulu, Radradra, Rapana, Watene-Zelezniak, Addo Carr, Feldt, Ferguson, Cotric, Rossdog, Mansour

It depends on what a club values. In terms of metre eaters he and Mansour are the best in the game. DWZ is in the same category of winger but Nofo is streets ahead of him - DWZ can't even bloody catch!

Vunivalu, Radradra, Rapana and Holmes are all clearly ahead of him but then it really becomes a matter of style preference with wingers. Cotric won't be a winger long term, at the moment he's a great young player that just happens to have been plonked on the wing.

As I wrote the below I thought. Where would Tim Sheens be in this list? Probably below 10…. However I think he was probably the League's best playmaking idea coach. The set plays he came up with were extraordinary. His coaching had too many gaps, he got too many basic things wrong.... But his playbook was legendary.

I must say Green making the finals with Scott and JT was the effort of the year. Flanagan and Arthurs have put up with so much stuff that they have shown such metal... I just cannot fault them.
Bellamy is next. Consistently turns out a top Melbourne side. I just don't know how he does it, but I don't know if he can do it without the Storm's top 3 and master training. Next is Robinson, the Roosters even with cap roarting should not be a top 4 side as often as they have been under him. He clearly outshone Brian Caravan. Rounding out these masters is Bennett, I need say more.
Des Haslier is next. He has had a winning formula with Manly and it did not take full effect at Canterbury, but I have no doubt he will be a top 4 coach again.

Cleary comes next. He is a LONG way behind Haslier and is an above average coach. He has the right attitude and in the right side he can and has made the top 4\. But he is not like the others above him. I think he doesn't have that much talent as them.

The rest speak for themselves.

1 Green
2 Flanagan
3 Arthurs
4 Bellamy
5 Robinson
6 Bennett
-- Haslier is in here.
7 Cleary
8 Barrett
9 Brown
10 Stuart
11 Griffin
12 Pay
13 McGregor
14 Seibold ?? I honestly have no idea.
15 Brennan likewise.
16 Kearney

Seibold has been an assistant with Qld side as well as Souths

Highly rated

Personally I think that it appears that Dymock won't get a job coaching an NRL side

Brennan is very highly regarded as a 'coach' but I'm not to sure how he is with people management… I'm expecting him to have his troops in good shape at the start of the season and wont be surprised to see the Titans in the Top 8 for a good part of the year.

Obviously once Jared Hayne decides to voice his opinions the Titans season will go off the rails.

I'm hoping we will see the Hayne Stain back at the Eels Watto , Titans don't need to be derailed but Parra being derailed wouldn't harm our chances

Here is the kicker. How hopeless is David Kidwell!

You're given New Zealand. You have a very decent side and this is your coaching resume for a fulltime first grade job. In fact if you do really well the Warriors may just hire you.

and nothing. NZ is loosing to teams way down the pecking order then them. Yes, all sides get an upset. But the guy can't coach.

Proved that the last 3? years with us were a waste of time.

Watching NZ efforts at the world cup, I wonder whether it was JT that invented Taylorball, or whether he just handed the attacking reins over to Kidwell

You see the head to head:
Shawn Johnson vs H Raiwalui ???
RTS vs Kev Naiqama!

Considering that Kidwell was the common factor with Taylor and the coach before him. I think we need to say that this guy was not identified as a DUD. I understood that he was working on our defense not our offense though.

Sheens, Potter, Taylor, Henry, Stuart, anyone could have gotten the NZ side performing far better then this.

What makes it worse is that he and Blair were happy with the process

Spent one too many seasons at the WT's me thinks :sign:

1 Bellamy …easily by far but has superstars, gift cards, boats and gate takings at his disposal
2 Green ...very consistent and has stars all over the park, pity he is a Qlder
3 Arthurs...great style and gets the best out of players except when Norman is on a Coke binge.
4 Bennett ...best coach ever but way past it now, losing his aura
5 Flanagan ....thanks to the peptides, they won a grand final
6 Robinson...very astute coach with plenty of paper bags at his disposal
7 Cleary....good coach who got the Warriors to a GF, that's an achievement in itself
8 MCGregor....always under pressure at the start of the season, delivers and when the pressure is off at seasons end, the wheels fall off
9 Barrett...looks like a coach who has had a bong or two before a match starts
10 Stuart...when he isn't complaining about referees his team is firing but 90% of the time he is complaining.
11 Griffin...when Gould isn't in his ear telling him how to coach he goes ok
12 Brown...no excuses next year, if they start losing he might start slapping his players around
13 Seibold...will find out
14 Brennan....will find out
15 Pay...will find out
16 kearney ....by a mile, if he trained Winx she would lose every start

1\. Bennett
2\. Bellamy
Hasler here
3\. Green
4\. Robinson
5\. Arthur
6\. Flanagan
7\. Cleary
8\. Mcgregor
9\. Barrett
10\. Brown
11\. Griffin
12\. Stuart
13\. Siebold
14\. Pay
15\. Brennan
16\. Kearney

There seems to be three factors with the coaches.

How well they player manage.
how well they prepare their players for a game.
How many tactics/plays they coach into the game.

Bellamy manages to keep his stars on a discounted wage and prepare his players extremely well. However I don't think he is very tactical and trains his team to play a grudge match.

Flanagan is tactical and manages his players very well. But the sharks seem to get squashed by the cowboys too easily.

Sheens was probably one of the best play inventor coaches but sucked with preparing players. Potter seems a little better in player prep but couldn't get people onside and committed to his vision.

Taylor we learned a lot. He is a pretty hopeless player manager, and as head coach could not prepare his players well. He did seem to try tactics and get some in the play, but sucked.

Cleary is an average coach, but not a bad one. Lets see where we go.

Ahhhh, the silly season. 4 pages of responses! If the poll was about "Coaches who make me think, Hell they do a god job" ? I would have Bellamy and Bennett light years ahead of the rest. But, does it matter what I think? Or anyone else who's contributed to these four pages?

The more I have thought about it, the more I would not be surprised if Bellamy tapped Cronk on the shoulder because of Croft. Like Bennett with Lewis.

Cronks marriage last week suggests bellamys succession plan wasn't really "planned" at all…he just got lucky that one of his big 3 wanted out this year
Having said that,Bellamy gets "lucky"an awful lot more than most coaches!
