Live Game Discussion
As they said during the live call...the ball is not a brick, its curved
The head on shot imo showed the lowest curvature had to touch the ground before the edge of the ball touched the dead ball line....its just common sense.
The side camera angle to me looked like it was always on the line

seriously we are going to stop being able to recognise this game it has changed so much it's becoming like soccer do they realise this is a contact sport?
I actually stopped watching it after Smith got penalised for a perfectly legal legs tackle. Switched over to the AFL - far more entertaining - maybe due to close score. I'm over NRL - i don't even watch half our games anymore.

Replays, however, showed Ben Trbojevic appeared to drop it at the play-the-ball in the lead-up.

Referee Adam Gee later told Rabbitohs players the ball only came off the ground because of “sticky spray”. “He never loses control of it, he plants it down and it comes up,” Gee added.

Manly get away with Burbo error
That's terrible by Gee. Rather than make up a

Not sure if Gee seen this live or not as he reportedly later told the Souths player.
Stupid thing to say, essentially making up shit to justify an incorrect (no) call. Better off saying sorry mate I didn't see it live and it is to late to go back to it. Doesn't help Souths at all but does help himself and other refs for every time it happens again

It feels like the bunker sometimes keeps on looking for something hoping to rule a no try. Last night was the perfect example, you can see he planted it on the angle Ink showed above. But let's keep looking for an angle that inconclusive and over rule based on that.
The Bunker/Video Refs have always been that way.

Wouldn’t it make sense where the no try is inconclusive that it goes with a positive ruling of a try as benefit of the doubt. Similar to when they changed the rules on simultaneous grounding where they went with the try scorer not defender hands

I thought the Souths no try probably wasn't a try. I probably wouldn't have overturned the on-field call as i think there was to much doubt to overturn it but did think it initial grounding was on the sideline.
I actually thought the point of the ball grounded inside the line first then it rolled over, but that just could be my eyes 👀

That was my initial thoughts but then on replay though the grounding just caught a fraction of the line, but that could also just be my eyes.
I'm not fully convinced either way, hence I believe refs call (try) was probably the more appropriate call but I can't really consider it a 'bad' decision whichever way it went.
