I think the Dragons should be applauded for sacrificing a home game to commemrate the 50th year to the day of this:

I was born 2 months after this, a historic occasion for the game, hopefully Im still around for the 100th… 😕

I hope I'm not ….. Anyway in fifty years time both clubs probably won't exist as they do now.

I think each nrl club is limited to four diff designs in one calendar year

WT - home and away + two heritage strips
penrith - home black + White + pink + brown heritage

Dragons - home red v, steelers away plus women in league plus 1963 heritage

I think our use of four meant we could not wear a pink jersey in 2013\. It also means there will be one heritage jersey worn next year (i.e. balmain 2014, magpies 2015 etc)

SCG is a terrible venue to watch rugby league.

I may be on my own with this comment but I am so so so sick of all the heritage games, flash backs, jerseys etc. it does not change the appeal / pull of the game for me at all.

Happy that St George have effectively given up a home game for it. Makes us even for the year.

Cricket fields are for cricket. Going to the cricket is about beers - and glancing occasionally at a ball or two. It is a relaxing day in the sun talking crap with mates.

League fields need to be intense. They are made intense by grandstands where you need someone to belay you as you climb to your seat. The closer you are to the game the more you feel the hits, the tackle busts and the passion of the players.

Agreed. I went to the Dragons game earlier in the year, kind of on impulse as I was working at the Horden Pavillion that day and wasn't sure I'd be finished in time for the footy. Left work and saw all the Tigers fans headed for the ground, so I bought a GA ticket and made my way in. Worst view I've ever had of a football match like ever. Behind the dead ball line at the eastern end with the afternoon sun in my face on the most gently raked seating I've ever seen. Unless there was action inside of the 20 I saw nothing.

Even though I live in the inner city I'd be more likely to make my way to Kogarah than watch another football game at the SCG, that was absolutely rubbish. There was a good reason for building a football stadium right next door.
