Re: LO parking tips

Hi guys,
Just wondering if anyone has got some parking tips, especially somewhere that has got a good escape route.
It's been a while since I was last at Leichhardt oval.
PS. If you've got any secret locations, promise I will keep it to myself.

While it's great to get there early and feel pretty proud of yourself at getting a parking spot you're only kidding yourself if there is a decent crowd*.
You're better off parking miles away from the ground and getting Public transport, also check out if the Orange Grove Public School still offers parking for a fee, it's going to go to a good cause.
* While you may have gotten a parking spot it'll take your hours to get away from the ground, I have sort of fond memorys from a few years ago when the other half and I tried to leave and we could have walked backed to the the old Leagues Club and back in the time it took us to leave, have things improved?.

Thanks Leroy,

I will be going early and that's what worried me if I got too close to LO.
I have been caught out before myself. Took me hours just to start moving.
I think I will check out the public school, a bit of a walk will do me good.

Cheers

My advice would be to go down Lilyfield Road and then start working the backstreets between it and Joseph St. Obviously the earlier the better but normally you can find something if you have time and patience. Also leaving via Lilyfield Road is a much smarter option than Balmain Road…

My favourite spot used to be behind Orange Grove school at the end of Rayner where there was a small grass area but sadly that is not an option.

Also just check the parking signs. Close to the ground have "special event" restrictions which rules out parking on game days.

Black and white, if you don't mind walking then you are better off parking on the other side of the canal (rowers club side) and walk across the bridge past the former Apia club, up the hill to the oval. It's a bit of a walk but you have no traffic dramas.

Thanks guys,

I enjoy a bit of a walk after win, soaking up the atmosphere and all.
If we loose I normally like to get home as soon as possible and take it out on my family.

I'm sure tomorrow i'll br enjoying the long walk back to the car.

Thanks for the info guys.

I always park in Edward St behind the Orange Grove Hotel… It's always a quick getaway down Lilyfield Rd away from the rat race and I can be at the Airport within 45 minutes after Fulltime!

Honestly man , don't drive there , the last thing I need is more completion for a parking spot !

The best place to park is in Hawthorne Parade, there is a new bridge which goes across the canal from hawthorne Parade and across to Blacmore Oval. It is only a short walk and there a few options from here when leaving to escape the traffic.

Trust me this is the best place to Park.

thats where I usually park, still takes ages to get out! That might not be an option with the weather the way it is!

Some of the streets around Allen St, or Norton St are usually pretty good if you can get a spot and the walk up to the oval. Its usually a pretty quick getaway but then again depends if LO is at capacity today which it looks likely..could be a bit slower getting out regardless of where you park  :sign:

Thanks everyone for all your help,

Leaving for the footy now…... More confused than ever,
Too many options

Thanks again.

Sorry if I take your spot....!
