Re: sitting on the hill

Don't know how everyone else feels about this, but I think that standing on the hill shouldn't be at the back only. Normally this isn't a problem but last year against Melbourne people were being told to sit down on the hill, and it was standing room at the back only.
Personally I can only enjoy a game on my feet and yelling, and don't want to stand right at the back. What's everyone else's thoughts on this?

If it's quiet enough that you can sit, good luck to you. If it's full and you can't see any more, stand up. If the ground sells out there isn't enough room for people to sit anyway. What is this, a football match or a family picnic?

Get there early enough and get on the back row of benches, gives about the best of both worlds you can get

a full house will see a standing room only at least 20 deep.the boys performance will dictate if everyone stands.

last year at Melbourne, it was a sellout, I was there before NYC, and stood on the hill towards the front of the hill, as it was muddy, had people come all around me and sit behind me, then tell everyone to sit down. There is not enough room when it sells out for people to sit down. I was force to kneel on the cement despite being at the ground before 90% of the fans.
I was livid when a group of people who came after me, sat right behind me than complained when I remained standing when the game started.
The ground announcer should tell everyone on the hill to stand when the crowd is large.

At last years game at LO a brawl broke amongst Tigers fans on The Hill. Some women that were sitting told some blokes that were standing to sit down. Heated words were followed by some pushing and then punches - a very ugly scene

there were very nearly a number of incidents around me in the Melbourne game….

I think its more courteous to others to sit down. What if there are little kids behind you and you're standing? They will definitely not be able to see.

If you want a seat get there early and get the bench seats at the front.

Yep it's going to be muddy! With all this rain I'm expecting the parking on the grass near the hospital will be closed again

It's been a couple of years since I've been to Leichhardt but I found you could get the best of both worlds by grabbing a spot between the seating and the hill on the built up retaining wall area where the walk way is, you can sit down for most of the time but in a big crowd there will be a lot of pedestrian traffic.
You will be a long way from the amenities so you might have to bring your own water & rice crackers etc so don't consume too much alcohol or fatty foods or it will be a long afternoon and not much footy watching.
