Anyone and Everyone is getting blamed for what is going on at the club..this bloke however seems to escape unscathed.

Why are players leaving ? Lets ask the players ??

This bloke treats the players like dummies and his bully boy tactics have backfired…...He should be the one being shown the door.

Yep..lets have a clean out.....your next Warren McDonnell.

Why would you get rid of McDonell

- All the awesome Juniors he has brought to the club who have become first graders and the fact he has brought us the best U20s group we have ever had
- The signing of Ellis, Tuqiri, Utai, McKinnon in the last couple of year
- The fact he is cleaning out what is clearly uncommitted dead wood from our squad next year - Gibbs, Motlzen, Fifita

No lets blame the recruitment manager for the number of injuries that have cursed us this year and the fact the players are too bigger sooks to get on with it when their mates are leaving

Isnt his role just to obey Sheens in relation to signing up juniors. I assume he also does about of scouting in lower grades.

Wow 4 great imports out of 100...fantastic...He really is worth keeping.

How exactly does he treat players like dummies?

What bully boy tactics??

He hardly makes any hard fast decisions…..he makes suggestions.

Whoever is in charge of recruiting our current crop of U20's has done an outstanding job. That team is the most talented young side I have seen in my 30 plus years of watching rugby league.

The job is to keep the best of that team and surround them with the likes of Marshall, Farah, Lawrence, Ellis, Gallawoy, Turqui, Ashyford etc… Bring in a few more key players and this club can be great again.

You get the mix right and we have a team that would be very good for the next 3-5 years. However I think we need a new coach.

The reason the U20's are doing so well is because of one person his name is Grant Jones.

He sorts through the mess McDonnell delivers and makes the team. James Tedesco, Tim Simona, Limoni Kamuta, David Nofoaluma, Jesse Su, Kyle Lovett, Junior Roqica, Ben Saunders, Sebastian Vourlos, Cutis Sironen, Joel Luani and Mason Talolua are all local Juniors who have come through Balmain/Wests HM and SG Ball….......not a hard job locking up your top 5 juniors at age 16 each year from Balmain Wests and even Keebra.

Where are the recruited players ?

Tanqele Naiyaravaro – Enjoyed a great year for Otahu in the NZ competition in 2010.
Evander Waitoa – He captained Wellington U18s in 2010 and is a player to watch out for.
Ratu Tagive – Younger brother of former Wests Tigers winger Peni Tagive.
Luke Turner – Played first grade for Thirlmere in the Group 6 competition in 2010.
Liam Ayoub – Showed potential in his eight games in the halves for the U20s in 2010.
Shaun Craig – Brother of Dayne Craig who played U20s for Wests Tigers in 2010.
Jay Masueli – A big, strong prop who get across the advantage line.
Ryan Jowett – A big strong back-rower from the Central Coast
Setefano Taukafa – Will provide plenty of interest for fans in 2011.

We all know what is going to happen, most of those U20 players will have to leave to play first grade, sheens has created a family atmosphere in the NRL team to the point where no one was getting dropped despite some woefully inadequate performances over the years, now he realises his mistakes, starts culling but too late, realises he has lost the respect of the players, they don't fear being dropped, because it has never happened, they don't understand after years of being rewarded for under performing that it has all come to an end, the party is over, this club showed so much potential in 2005, but it just never kicked on. Good players were let go (Harrison to name one) and ordinary ones signed to long term contracts. I feel sorry for players like chris lawrence and benji, who are super competitive but have just not been surrounded with the talent to go even further. I am not going to put too much blame on robbie farah either, he is obviously playing injured, he should have had his surgery and a break from the game, but sheens just cannot put his trust in the younger brigade to fill in. Other teams have given their young stars a go (eg broncos) and have left us in their wake. Next year can't come soon enough, I hope some people at the tigers have learned some hard lessons from this debacle.

Nice side step there.

Thanks Ink..OK maybe he does only make suggestions like we need to sign Moltzen and Fifita…mistake oops sorry We now need to get rid of Moltzen and Fifita.

My suggestion is while we are having a cleanout of under contract players supposedly for the young kids coming through.. lets go all the way and have some fresh young blood on the recruitment scene...10 years or how ever long he has been there is long enough.

Don't kid yourself buddy, all the decisions around here are made by Mr Sheen, just ask Longmuir.

If coaches were such great selectors, why was Andrew Johns not the regular NSW halfback until he was, what, 28 years old? Remember when Slater couldn't get the fullback gig because of some dude by the name of Karmichael Hunt? Those selection decisions look pretty shabby years down the track.

I don't think "Horsehead" McDonnell is the problem.

This year has been smashed by injury and the destabilizing cull of long term players.

Ever noticed how Smith, Slater and Blair etc never seem to get injured for the Storm … perhaps we should make a play for the Melbourne trainor, doctor, faith healer ... etc.

I don't see a lot wrong with our recruitment over the past few seasons. We've obviously needed more grunt up the middle (Moi Moi style) but the young talent coming through is terrific and if the Adam Blair rumour comes to fruition, and a reliable fullback can be nabbed, Simon Dwyer makes a full recovery, Sheensy stops running over Chinamen etc ... the future is rosey.

Exactly..good idea..lets buy them….we need whatever it is Melbourne have.. maybe they will throw in their Recruitment Manager for free if we pay cash.

You are making some serious accusations without any real proof. If you are going to make such accusations, then back it up with facts and proof please (bearing in mind the forum rule number _4\. Whomever is identifying the young talent for NYC has been doing a pretty good job…theres been plenty of potential identified & recruited. My guess is its predominantly McDonell & his sources,as the head coach's main focus is elsewhere(as it shld be).
Whomever is responsible for developing this raw talent into accomplished NRL players is significantly failing to extract the most from whom & what they have had at their disposal in recent years.
Whomever is buying established NRL players that are either predominantly injury prone, or career reserve graders ,or simply over the hill(& theres plenty of all of these) is failing other players & supporters.
And whomever is accountable for having no less than 7 players earning more than $300k next season, but still leaving us without a genuine NRL standard player in the critical no 1 & no 7 jerseys,is a strategic fool
My guess is the latter three are almost entirely the coach's responsibility .
McDonnell,yr ok so long as u dont bring back yr son,who most definitely falls into the career reserve grade category..!
