I would of thought making the NYC Under 22 would of helped making both comps strong and maintained the importance of both comps that would both benefit from each other

Where would the best 22 year olds play? In the NYC? Wouldn't that weaken reserve grade even further?

They can play either still

But we are trying to push props and second rowers up against men too early Ok some are ready , but many aren't

Give them time to develop mentally and phsyically

Some are definitely being promoted too early which is why it would be nice if we could **promote** (not demote) them to reserve grade before the NRL.

I like the idea and maybe I would group the u20s comp with the other two junior comps. Of course the other idea is we go back to a u23s comp and that way we give some of the late bloomers a few more years to develop, but really these days cant think of to many players who hit the scene late, most are identified from early teens and are put through the system.

In the old days you made a day of the footy, arrived at the ground for third grade and did the three grades, now we are all time poor and most people charge through the gates minutes before kick off, its only a few tragic s who still make a day of it so from a commercial point of view I dont think it will achieve much.

This years merging of the two feeder clubs will make a massive different to the strength and quality of our reserve grade and I quite like being able to have another option to see a game when our FG is playing interstate or in NZ.

Anyway doubt it will happen, the u20s as a product is attractive to sponsors, its the age group they like to target

I agree, the NYC has gone through an amazing marketing campaign over the last 5 years but I see no reason they couldn't do the same with the NRG. Greater marketing minds than mine could come up with slogans like, "Do you have the NRG?"

Incidently, this article got published on The Roar. There are some really good comments there.
