Shouldve let Lockyer & Hodges play that round 26 game last year….

Was Hodges even close to being fit to play Watto????

Would have been his first game in over a year!

If Hodges is having a major say in the coaching issue - then the lunatics really are running the asylum/brothel!!!

You understand the culture off the field up there…. Hodges put his hand up to play and with his 1-2 powerbrokers on his side, they made some pretty big noises.

Locky not playing was the real death of him though... as quoted by Don Jackson with his glass of plonk "we have a coach who doesnt want to win football games or play the best player in the world.... Ivan can go with Bruno..."

Red, I'm just suprised they didnt punt him late last year, but with the change-over things take time. It was evident this was going to be White's first job though once he quoted to the media "Ivan has my full support..."

I think anyone who was going to follow on from Wayno was going to find it difficult, especially when it appears that the senior players rule.

Powerbrokers/Sponsors of elite sporting teams always align themselves with the Star Players for thier own personal profile. In turn, the players then have a stronger voice and get thier own way more often than not, as the real core of NRL Franchises is money…

I'm not a fan of this behaviour Spartan, but the Senior Players rule at our Club also...

The Broncos post Bennett are like a kid out of home for the first time because Bennett gave respect but also had the esteem to punish anyone who breached the code of conduct he expected players to follow.

Darren Lockyer has rejected claims a reported falling out with Ivan Henjak played a key part in Brisbane's decision to axe their coach this week.

Henjak vetoed Lockyer's plea to let him return from a bad rib injury to play against Canberra last September when Brisbane need to win to have a shot at making the NRL finals.

But Lockyer said on Tuesday the pair had not fallen out over their disagreement.

"That's not true," said Lockyer after Anthony Griffin made his first appearance in the role of head coach at the club's Red Hill headquarters.

"I know there are some rumours going around that I had a falling out with Ivan but that wasn't the case.

"We had a good relationship but at times last year when we were going through a pretty bad trot I think everyone was down a bit.

"But Ivan and I had a good relationship and there was never a falling out."

Lockyer said he and the players were caught by surprise by the Henjak bombshell late on Monday.

"It all happened so quickly and yeah, it was a bit of surprise.

"But a decisions been made we need to move on with things."

Asked if he thought it was unusual situation for a coach to be dropped before a team had played a game he said: "At the Broncos it's not a regular thing.

"I'm not used to it but we can't change the decision, it's been made.

"Broncos fans may be a little bit worried now, but we as players just have to deal with it and let them know we're behind the new coach."

Griffin meanwhile said he believed his budding NRL coaching career could be shaped during the next three months with all eyes on his performances.

"I know the coaching game. I'm ready to coach, I wouldn't be here if I wasn't," said the former Melbourne Storm assistant who has enjoyed good success in lower level coaching jobs.

"It is awkward. I must admit I was rattled when it happened to tell you the truth.

"The coaching game is a funny game. The media is always speculating and unfortunately there are coaches getting fired and hired every day of the week

"I'm a career coach, I've been doing it for a long time.

"I've been given an opportunity and I know how the team plays over the next 12 weeks or so, I'll live and die by that, my career.

"I understand that and I'm looking forward to it.

"This is what I've been working for as a coach all my life."

They didn't say anything of the type - as a motivational tool Gibbs & Farah wrote on the white-board that they would RETIRE at the end of 2010 if the team did not make the semis!

The Herald made it into a pitch for Sheens re-signing - but it was all about making the semis - and it wasn't about players going elsewhere but for them to retire!

Sheens also said publicly that he would spurn his one year extension & walk away if we had not made the semis!

Fortunately we made the semis and the their real commitment to this plan was never tested!

(Note as soon as we officially made the semis Gibbs tweeted - "I don't have to retire" & Farah responded "neither do I"!)

If Marshall ran the club as people are suggesting - his best mate Dene Halatau would never have been forced to look elsewhere & Bronson would not have been released! That is not to say that he & Farah are not highly influential with both the coaching staff & front office!
