Resigning of Mckinnon

I must admit, at second thought, I am a little sceptical of keeping Mckinnon. Firstly because Brown is an up and coming player who proved himself to be a handy buy this season at fullback, secondly because we have Mullaney who many touted as a starting first grader THIS YEAR still lingering around in the 20's and will have to come into the big picture at some stage, thirdly because he is injury prone and we may not be getting value for money out of him and fourthly the bloke is nearing the end of his career, so should be just breed the younger players now?

Big questions the recruitment management should have asked themselves before extending his contract…

What do you think about his resigning?

If he stays fit he will add value with his support play, plus he is safe at the back. You raise a valid point though, as he may well be a waste if he continues to have hamstring problems. At least depth at fullback will not be a problem.

I thought it was strange signing him until the end of 2012 when he is very injury prone.

I thought it was odd to sign McKinnon to such a lengthy contract when Brown was really one of our best in that some position. I don't think thre was too much of a difference between us playing tomorrow this year and this time next year. McKinnons contract could have been been given to upgrade the likes of a Fifita/Moors/Murdoch-Mascilla.

McKinnon was starting to look really good in the 1 jersey. Other clubs would have been circling so the Tigers would have signed him thinking it was a good idea. Unfortunately he was injured almost immediately after signing and never really made an impression.

probably not the best move considering he's injury prone with that hamstring…. they should have waited a little longer to see how things go.

Brown only really started to play great in the #1 after McKinnon re signed.

Might not be a bad thing that we resigned him now tho, if Lui is in strife Moltzen can play 7 Mckinnon or Brown at 1.
The good thing about having them both is brown has the ability to play wing, centre and fullback.
I'd go with Mckinnon at fullback and slot Brown onto the wing.
Or Mckinnon could be our back off the bench. He'd be handy coming in and carving up some tired forwards.
All this depth is a wonderful head ache to have

Brown would be my preferred starter, but if Tuiaki is still out in 2011, McKinnon to no.1 and Brown on the wing.

I'm really curious as to what Mullaney does now…?

… He develops his game and physique in reggies until he is ready for 1st grade!! He is a talent but is not special enough to demand a top grade berth!!

Plus he had almost as much injury-time as Wade in 2010!

20-20 hindsight is an amazing thing, but when we re-signed mckinnon we didn't look to have an option at fullback, granted Brown wasn't given much of a shot at that stage.
who knows what will happen to mckinnon's hammy with a full off season to let it heal. And, Brown really stood up at the end of the season. If nothing else, mckinnon should/could be a great mentor for Brown, especially on now to chime into the attack from fullback.
My heart says Brown should be rewarded for his efforts this year and given the no 1 jersey to start with.

It,s about expieriance and that is what McKinnon brings with the likes of Mullaney running around with him and picking up tips this is a good signing on that alone.

McKinnon knows how to "play the game" when he needs a contract extension….just something about this bloke that isn't quite right...(besides being injury prone)

When they rushed to extended McKinnon's contract I think it gave a clear signal to Mullaney he may need to go elsewhere.... has even been resigned ?

Mate you have got no idea; McKinnon had a contract with the Warriors but took a chance coming to Wests Tigers with no guarantee on being signed for next year. I tip my lid to him.

When Wade signed with the Tigers it was ironically the same round that the Tiges played the Warriors at Campbelltown, there was supposedly a gentleman's agreement that Wade would not appear against the Warriors.
From that I assumed that Wade was fit and Firing to go, but no, he bought some extra baggage with him on his flight over, the Warriors obviously knew he was a crock so why else would they let one of their 'Marquee' let alone one of their crowd favourite players go so easily.
With the unfortunate events that currently involve Robert Lui perhaps Wade should be tried at Half Back!.
