ROBBIE BALBOA!!!!

I actually remember checking on a replay and was surprised to notice that Robbie looked like he had his arms bound.

His arms are bound before the scrum forms. Whether he unbinds his arms after that is anyone's guess. From the footage on channel 9, there was no sufficient angle to show it.

TITANS hooker Nathan Friend has branded Wests Tigers captain Robbie Farah a `sook' as the drama surrounding the Gold Coast's spiteful one-point loss at Campbelltown continues to simmer.

The rival rakes came to blows mid-way through the second-half of Friday night's clash, with Farah claiming he was head-butted by Friend as they packed a scrum and had to `stand up for himself'.

Despite Farah's on-field admission, Friend was somehow penalised for throwing the first punch, which contributed to Titans back-rower Mark Minichiello being sent to the sin bin for being the third man in.

Friend yesterday strongly denied both throwing the first punch and head-butting his Tigers opposite number, claiming Farah had sparked the entire incident.

"He is a bit of a sook. It was a scrum and he has packed a thousand of them," said Friend.

"It has been and gone and I am not one to dwell on things like that.

"Obviously I believe we were unfortunate with the decision."

Farah could be seen clearly on the telecast sledging Friend as he went to pack the scrum.

It is not known what was said but a strong rivalry has existed between the two hookers ever since the Titans tried to head-hunt Farah and punt Friend at the start of last season.

"There was a bit of sledging going on," said Farah. "He was at me all game, hit me after I passed so I had a little dig at him.

"I won't say what I said to him but we packed into the scrum and he led with his head. I wasn't too pleased about that, so I stood up for myself."

The stoush sets the stage for another heated showdown in Round 26, when the Titans host the Wests Tigers at Skilled Park.

"It is interesting to see that he has come out and said I was slanging him the whole match, when it was the total opposite," said Friend.

"I didn't say one word to him the whole game.

"But I might have to (next time) if he wants to carry on like a clown once again.

"He had a bit of a bee under his bonnet from me being in his face when he was kicking. I just packed the scrum and he must have had enough."

Despite failing to return home from Sydney with two competition points, Friend said there were many positives to draw from the 15-14 loss.

The Titans' defensive effort in particular was outstanding and something which has largely been missing from their arsenal over the past month.

Friend said the Titans would try and maintain the rage heading into their clash with the Brisbane Broncos at Robina on Friday night.

"We have got a couple big games coming up," he said. "Hopefully we can get a couple of wins together heading into the semis.

"We got through without any injuries so hopefully we can build on what we did against the Tigers this Friday night against Brisbane."

NRL REFEREES boss Robert Finch yesterday admitted whistleblower Gavin Badger could have handled the fight between Nathan Friend and Robbie Farah differently, but stopped short of saying he got it wrong.

Badger made a match-turning decision in the 63rd minute, sending Titans forward Mark Minichiello to the sin bin for his part in a scrum brawl sparked by the two rival hookers.

Despite Farah admitting he unloaded first, Badger's belief that Friend threw the first punch was a major factor in his call to bin Minichiello for being the 'third' man in.

While Minichiello was off the field the Tigers scored a converted try through centre Blake Ayshford to extend their lead 15-8.

"Someone had to go," said Finch.

"It was bubbling along for a while prior to that, a bit of push and shove from both sides.

"Whether it was Minichiello or both hookers, that is something to discuss.

"From my perspective, there could have been a case for both hookers to go instead of Minichiello.

"But that is what the referees thought was the right course of action and I am not going to be critical of that.

"Let me say there were a couple of other crucial incidents in the game, the Titans could have been up 18-0 early on (but made mistakes), they are also critical times in the game without a doubt."

Finch said he did not expect the match review committee to find any substance to Farah's claims that he was provoked by a headbutt from Friend.

"From my position, being an old footballer, I just thought that is what happens when you pack a scrum," said Finch.

"You come together and put your heads in.

"I can't see any evidence of a headbutt and Friend wears headgear anyway.

"Headbutted by headgear, geez."

What a moron. Go Robbie next time knock him out.

In my opinion the Titans have a right to be bitter about the result of the melee. If Minichiello was binned Liam Fulton should have been as well, he was unloading on Friend too when Friend was busy with Farah. Either Mini and Fulton should have gone or both hookers should have gone.

In saying that, sucked in to them. Just cuz they have the right to be bitter doesn't mean they should carry on like whinging women afterwards. They got the short straw, suck it up.

Friend is talking big that's for sure. Why would he think the result would be any different in round 2? Robbie will just belt him again.

Big play that one, they have the ball from the put in and the scrum blows up and we get the penalty. Like how Robbie said he headbutted me but Friend wears headgear so would be like getting a headbutt from a pillow. If you watch the replay there was always going to be a stink, Robbie went into the scrum with his arms not bound and threw the first one, a cracker uppercut.

the reason he did that was coz friend hit him several times throughout the match after farah had either passed or kicked. farah had to teach him a lesson and he was unfriendly when teaching him. i think prince came close to copping it as well because he was running his mouth all night long.

I love that footage from Leichhart on Watts

Robbie is great - no comparison to the Ennis incident. What Ennis did was dog shot and hide. IMO Robbie stated his intention, stood his ground and gave it to Friend. On top of that he uses his head instead of losing his head like Ennis did. Smart play from Robbie. (I would love to know what was said when they packed the scrum - you could just see the blue coming).

Is it just me or is Prince becoming more of a sook each game ? I didnt like him much personally when he played with us but he got the job done and deserved respect for his game. These days I just cant stand him, although he is not as much of a whinger as Thurston yet. Maybe its the Titans jersey. I am a self confessed one eyed Tigers supporter.
