Robbie Farah dismisses suggestions he might leave the Wests

Haha, the muppet is already singing Gibbs' praises on Twitter. Mark my words, if Gibbo gets off to a flyer you'll see Rothfield calling for his origin selection after years of calling him a fringe first grader.

He's copping a hiding over his change in tune over Carney too. Piggy Riddell gave him an absolute pasting over it.

Me thinks we need to invite rothfield to sit with us all on the hill at LO round 1 against them pathetic sharks. Don't think he would make it out the gate alive!!! If I was on twitter I would send him a friendly invitation!

Why would Stewart and Watmough switch positions, only an idiot like Sheens would do that, ohh wait,he has already switched Watmough to lock in the Aussie team, when Lewis who is a lock plays secondrow. 😕

Win a Sharks game with Buzz. Get on it!

I wonder how much longer it will be till they trot the tired old 'NSW to finally end QLD's dominance' prediction that we seem to have gotten every pre-season for about the last 3 yrs

i dont think that you find that the back row is traditional to lock and second rowers anymore. the lock tends to stay tight with the second rowers running wide. watmough plays tight for manly where lewis and stewart play wide. its really just a number on their backs now

I agree, you dont have to be friends etc to achieve a positive result. I doubt all was perfect on the ship this year, but we still managed to make the top 4…

Unfortunately, sometimes when the rubber band has been stretched to far, they can break and you need a new rubberband.

My post was a statement saying Farah simply said what we wanted to hear and many believe all is good.

So, is Robbie telling lies now?

It is straight-up embarrassing that a senior writer on a major daily paper is openly a fan of one particular club and continues to write, shamelessly, from that perspective. Frankly it speaks to lack of professionalism in the Australian sports media in general that this passes with barely a murmur.

I'm really struggling to think of anything comparable in the UK or US. There are ex-players - not all of them by any means - who struggle to get over career allegiances but that's one of the reasons why 'proper' journalists look down on ex-pro pundits. To have a senior writer acting like a 12-year-old fanboy is dismally poor.

Difference is Rothfield and most of his cronies never made it to the NRL. They're not "ex-professionals."

Come to think of it, they're hardly professionals now…

It doesn't bother me that he supports a NRL club.

It should do. If he only wrote opinion pieces that would be one thing, but it is not appropriate for a reporter to have explicit, open and non-moderated biases. You wouldn't accept a political reporter who was a party activist, or a finance reporter who was on the board of Goldman Sachs (or an organiser of Occupy Wall Street) - so why is it ok for a sportswriter?

Incidentally, yes I am aware that all journalists have biases of some description - they are, believe it or not, human. But part of the skill of the job is rising above one's personal beliefs to report as honestly as one can. This guy doesn't even bother to try, and that would be unacceptable at a legitimate newspaper.

some of you guys always say… "where there is smoke, there is fire"
i hope this really is just some nonsense by the reporter.

Even if it is true, so what. Farrah upset about missing a career highlight by getting some game time at a Wembly international. I can't blame him. But I think he's man enough to get over it. I think it just goes to show how professional Sheens is. A coach that is prepared to drop his own club's captain in order to fiedl the best team. Media beat up written all over it. I'm just glad Tigers are getting some media time during the off season. Better than the usual pre season droll they drag out every year of pictures of the Sharks or Dragons running sand dunes down the shire somewhere.

Actually the Tigers rolling down the sand dunes was yesterday's article Shiraz
