Liam Fulton may be wearing the number 9 jersey this Monday night but Tim Sheens is keeping quiet as to how long he will play hooker.

The versatile Fulton will start at hooker against Canberra Raiders at Campbelltown Sports Stadium, replacing the suspended Robbie Farah who will miss the next two games.

According to League Information expert David Middleton, Farah has played 66 consecutive premiership games for Wests Tigers. In 2009,
Farah missed round 11 through injury and rounds 12 and 15 through NSW Origin duties.

Sheens said the suspension of Farah changes the ‘dynamic’ greatly as to how Wests Tigers will play.

“Robbie is a unique player and we play a lot of our football around him,’’ Sheens said this morning.

“We are looking at Liam like (St George-Illawarra’s) Dean Young. He is a utility player who has played hooker before. He will start at hooker before we use a specialist hooker at some stage during the game. I’ve got a couple of options in terms of specialist hookers.”

Lock Chris Heighington – who will equal the record set by John Skandalis for most games for Wests Tigers (185) – said Farah would be sorely missed.

“He has been our 9 and hasn’t missed a game for a fair while. Someone is going to have to step up and play that role,’’ Heighington said.

“Robbie makes a lot of tackles and is a big talker out on the field so we are all going have to dig in and work that bit harder.

“Liam is a real classy player wherever he plays. He has got that X factor about him and everyone loves playing with him. He plays way above his weight and I’m sure he will do a great job.”
