Robbie's gonna have to be near perfect...

…for the next eight weeks if he wants to make the Origin team. It's gonna take the Tigers being 7-1 going into their bye, I'd say. With the Bulldogs looking good early it'll only enhance Ennis' chances of retaining the #9 jersey, regardless of what happened last year.

Lots of people complained about our guys not making Origin last year but the fact is they were playing awful at the exact wrong time, so they really had no one to blame but themselves. If they can string a half-dozen or more wins together I think we could see Robbie, Lawrence and Galloway all wearing sky blue.

Although it's a great honour to be picked for origin, I'm always going to be utterly selfish and not want our players getting picked. Losing games with key players out for origin can be all the difference between making the semis or not. I want the premiership and we need all players on board !!!!!

There are many factors that influence player selection for SOO and you have mentioned some of them TF4L being team form and of course player form. Then there are a whole lot of other factors like who the coach favours, obviously selector preferences, politics, injury, incumbancy, opposition, perceptions of what type of team/players are needed to beat QLD and there well be others that may be posted. I always find some selections a bit of a mystery regardless of the factors.

One very interesting factor IMO will be how Ricky Stuart aims up!!

I don't think Farah will make origin. I'm sure Stuart said he liked Dean Young who I think will share hooking duties with Ennis.

As a Queenslander, I hope Ennis is selected because there is more of a chance to see some one knock him out.
There is no doubt Farah is the better man for the position but for some reason the selectors will probably pick Young or Ennis & Gidley as a utility when Luke Lewis offers so much more utility value.
NSW has been weak for a few years now, if it was up to me I'd have Farah @ 9 and Jazzy Mullen would be the halfback… but it's not so expect a real average team to be selected as per usual.

I wouldn't pick any of our players in origin apart from Galloway, Ayshford and Tuqiri.

Lawrence without Farah and Benji would be useless. Heighington is always running back inside behind the markers and gets dominated too much. Farah without his usual targets won't be as effective and as a one dimensional hooker he just gets in the road and overplays his hand.

Ayshford and Tuqiri actually do things off their own backs. Lawrence always looks good on the back of good passes or kicks, he rarely does solo things. Ayshford gets the ball on the back foot and makes 20 metres with his arms free often. Tuqiri is, well, Tuqiri.

That's not to say Farah and Lawrence aren't good. And Lawrence is young and GREAT, more impressive than Ayshford most often. But Ayshford is a more damaging runner of the ball when it comes to hard style football, which Origin is.

That being said, I'd have Farah and Galloway in my NSW team this year. Farah because the other options are pathetic. Did anyone see Ennis pass into the dude that played the ball today? Wow, there's a SOO hooker. I'd put Farah in there with a directive to be a tough dummy half first and to desperately reel in his creative nature and tell him to spend a weekend watching Elias footage on how to be a creative hooker in SOO. He'd probably also be the captain. Him or Luke Lewis.

1\. Dugan
2\. Gordon
3\. Jennings
4\. Idris
5\. Morris
6\. Carney
7\. Pearce
8\. Weyman
9\. Farah ©
10\. Learoyd Lahrs
11\. Lewis (c)
12\. Gallen
13\. Watmough

14\. Hayne
15\. Bird
16\. Galloway
17\. Mannah

That's how I'd lean so far this season. Josh Morris would be in the side ahead of Idris if he wasn't sidelined.

I think Farah needs to lift his game a lot for us. I really think he isn't playing anywhere near his best.

In saying that I think that I would pick him anyway because he is the best option.

Ricky Stuart is no idiot it will be picked on form . I think it will be Robbie's year . As a Queenslander also you need to find a way to shut our backline down . Personally I think you need Morris brothers on wings and Lawrence and Idris in centres . Pierce and Carney as halves Not sure at fullback though Either Stewart or Hayne . Forget all the flashy backrowers go for workhorses with some flair off bench . Same with front rowers workhorses who will keep going .

I would have

1.Dugan
2.Uate
3.Jennings
4.J.Morris
5.Hayne
6.Carney
7.Mullen
8.Snowden
9.Farah
10.Weymen
11.Watmough
12.Bird
13.Gallen

14.Mannah
15.Lewis
16.Galloway
17.Leroy Larhs

But yes, in reply to this thread I hold out little hope the Robbie will be the hooker for NSW.

I hope I'm wrong but I dont think Farah has any chance of getting a Blues jersey. I dont think Ricky is a fan of his in regards to origin. The hooker will again be Ennis and Nsw will again lose in 2011\. Lawrence and maybe Galloway off the bench are our best hopes.

Cronulla were playing even more awful at the time, but somehow ended up with 3 players selected - go figure :unamused:

Bird and Gallen give away too many silly penalties Like the front row though if you want pick one (gallen or bird)but not both

If NSW have any brains they would pick Farah at hooker. Enough picking that fraud Ennis. He had his chance last year and he blew it.

Ennis is a protected species, he'll be there again, most probably.

We were the only team in the NRL not to have someone representing in Origin.

I'm sure it pisses players off But for our benefit at least we are full strength in NRL games

Ricky Stuart will pick both of them, he loves them. He's also a Watmough fan.

Ricky probably wants Pearce as captain and Young as the hooker. He's a genius

Farah won't make the team as 1st choice hooker. Here's Stuart in the SMH a few days ago;

''I have never seen a player want to go out and play an Origin game and lose,'' Stuart said. He also revealed that he had created a video featuring players whom he felt were ''Origin players'', which he showed to the youngsters selected for the ''Blues-in-waiting'' camp. They included Barrett, Nathan Hindmarsh and Craig Fitzgibbon.
>
''Origin attitude is another step above NRL attitude,'' Stuart said. ''I showed them different examples of players that possess that Origin style of attitude.
>
''Nathan Hindmarsh, Craig Fitzgibbon - there's two of the best Origin players you'll ever witness, in regard to their attitude.''

It's the usual "built for origin" tripe that gets trotted out every year.

Ennis showed that "Origin attitude" when he hid behind his forwards like a coward last year, and then gave away a stupid penalty that cost us the third game.
