From what I heard happined on the mad monday festivities at sackville he will be gone me thinks regardless if found guilty or innocent (THIS JUST A PREDICITION, NOT WHAT I KNOW WILL HAPPEN!)

I saw Robert Lui on the weekend at a knockout carnival where my son was playing, trying to make a QLD under 16 indigenous team. Robert was extremely polite and couldn't do any more for the kids who flocked him all weekend. My son had a good talk to him on how he was playing and also had a photo taken. This is a huge shame if true, I just can't believe it, he should have recieved help after the first incident. I don't know if this was offered but it should have been, especially for the sake of his wife and baby.

Receive help from who and for what?

Self responsibility is a wonderful thing. If he can't control himself on or off the drink that is his problem. No room for him at the Weststigers I am afraid. Benefit of the doubt for one offence, strike two and you are out.

Recieve help???…that is not the clubs responsibility. Like everyother job in the world unless it is work related the club does not have a commitment to provide this need.

if clubs really want to help players they need to teach the players to take responsibility for their actions.

an example for a troubled player like Todd Carney that should have taken place is this...

Carney should have been made to provide the roosters with a detailed plan about how he would get his life back on track and shown it to the roosters....
a state ment from the player that would say for exapmle he would not enter an alchohol related establishment after 9pm with out roosters officials blessing to do so, he would seek his own private councelling to which he would have each session signed off by the councellor to, he would commit to visiting a school every fortnight to provide them insight to how alchohol has negatively effected his physical emotional and social well being in a negative way to educate younger generations and would need visits signed by the princapal of participating schools
the contract would then go on to provide what punishment that carney would self impose if he neglected to follow a particular area of the contract
eg . missing a councelling session - $5000 fine and a strike
caught drinking and at a drinking establishment after 9pm - 15,000 dollar fine and strike
3 strikes and he is gone
\
\
this signed statement/planis something that the players should be forced to create individually and have to be deemed as sufficient by the club as they are taking responsibility for their actions

It is time the players became responsible for their actions...the Carneys Luis myles and others of the game.

the thing about recieving a punishment that you deemed to be fair is that tyou deemed it to be fair and can honestly cop it on the chin and you can only shoulder the blame onto yourself personally

Weidler = SMH and Ch 9

Benji = SMH and CH 9

Beau = CH 9

Weidler gets a lot of stuff off Beau, I think most people know that.

That's a big claim based on speculation. I'm sure Danny speaks to a lot more WT players than Benji and Beau…

Yeah my personal dealings with Rob Lui have been good - he was generous with his time and happy to talk and sign things - but being a nice guy doesn't give you a free pass for something like this. As I understand it, Robert and his partner were offered counselling after the incident last year. I'm not sure if he took up that offer.

Bang on Yoss. Warnie is a terrific bloke off the field as well, doesn't mean he's a great husband.

Hey everyone I in no way condone what was allegedly done and as for the comment about him recieving help that was firstly for the sake of his wife and child and secondly for him I hate to see such tallent go to waste. What is wrong with offering someone help, I agree it should be the players responsibility first and foremost, but there is nothing wrong with trying to help someone out. Doesn't mean the club condones The action. If you are right Yosarian and he was offered help and refused congrats to the club for at least trying.

I agree Norm but did Lui recieve councelling for the first occasion I wonder
I think what the club is worried about is what happens if it continues
They risk sponsors walking out etc
Nice to see someone just up the highway on the Forum

To those saying "who cares if he played" etc in the tournament without permission….......the issue is insurance.

If he tore his cruciate and was out for a year.......who pays? Wests? Lui? The orgnaisers?

It's simple reality if you are a professional footballer you need to get approval.

Sadly, Rob shows no signs of being mature enough to be a pro footy player.

BREAKING: Robert Lui's partner believed to be about to drop charges of assault again him… again...

Wow.

This is not meant to sound mean but its seems they have a very destructive relationship and it probably won't end prettily

When I saw him there interacting with the kids who flocked to him, I thought itwas a positive thing for him to be doing. I imagined it had been arranged through the club for some time and he was doing the right thing by meeting his obligations to the organisers and to the club. Very dissapointing to now find he didn't have permission, would have been a positive but for this indiscression.

Wow.

Inevitable. Most domestic violence stuff ends like this as the woman realises her husband will lose his job etc….............and, especially when there are kids involved, no woman wants their kids to go from having a dad with a job and supporting them to having a dad in jail etc.

If he's let off...............very, very tough position for the wests tigers to be in. A bloke charged twice with bashing a woman is not a good look for any club. If we don't cut him, but "something" happens again (likely given the nature of their relationship) and it ends really badly...........the club will look irresponsible and be accused of ignoring it.

If we do cut him and he's cleared...........we cut a bloke found guilty of nothing.

Tough, tough position.

This.

talk about Rock and hard place.

Fact is he has been taken into custody and charged with assault twice on his girlfriend. We are just lucky this time she wasn't pregnant.

I don't see how the club can turn a blind eye again IF the charges are dropped for a second time.
