They moved it to Wyong because they own their own ground. If they re-scheduled to Leichhardt the council could still stop them playing

Was really looking forward to watching some NSW Cup :frowning: Finally had a Tigers game on here.

You know the crap thing about it. Newcastle had arrived at the grounds so had the Tigers State Cup players….surely a decision could have been made earlier to postpone if it was that bad.

In all my years watching reserve grade for us this was the first time I have seen players chuck in the towel and give up when things didn't go there way.

Passi should have a red line drawn through his name. Never again. For 4 good runs you get poor defence, dumb play, even dumber penalties conceded and then gave up all together.

Spence had to come on again because Sonni chucked in the towel despite Spence having a shoulder injury.

A lot of soul searching to be done by certain members of this side.

Brooks was ok but took a couple of rash options

At least he went to the right ground Smeg… Or maybe from your report he should have gone to Leichhardt again.

For all the guys we have standing around as support staff you would think they could communicate the messages from the coach. But the majority of them stand around being utterly pointless. One of them spent the second hald chatting to the ball boys

Mayer protested the move. Got it at CSS, was announced last night.

Good thing too as it poured rain at Wyong all day

NSW Cup Match Report: Wests Tigers vs Newcastle Knights

Wests Tigers have lost 38-18 to Newcastle Knights in the NSW Cup.

Wests Tigers opened the scoring in the 8th minute with a fantastic team try to Jy Hitchcox.

Great hands around the middle of the ruck gave Luke Brooks the opportunity to select the right pass for a flying Hitchcox.

Newcastle hit back soon after, Mata'utia finishing off strong work from Timana Tahu in the left corner.

Wests Tigers restored their lead in the 27th minute when hooker Joel Luani dived over from dummy half.

Meaney converted the try to leave Wests Tigers with a 12-4 lead.

Josh Mantellato struck back for the Knights in the 28th minute racing down the touch line to step inside fullback Meaney to touch down.

Mantellato got his radar on, kicking from close to touch to get Newcastle within two points.

Taqele Naiyaravaro continued his try-scoring feats, notching up his 21st for the season, casually beating a host of defenders after great lead up work by Jy Hitchcox.

Meaney converted for a 18-10 lead at the break.

Adrian Davis brought Newcastle within four points touching down a loose ball in the in-goal after Wests Tigers put down a cross-field kick.

And the Knights were at it again not long after when Will Smith backed up on the inside to stroll under the posts following some porous defence from Wests Tigers.

Mantellato converted to put Newcastle in front 20-18.

Newcastle capitalised on a succession of penalties to see Mata'utia score in the corner in the 65th minute. Mantellato kicked an important conversion from the sideline to stretch the lead to 8.

The Knights were having great success down Wests Tigers' right edge and Timana Tahu punished them just three minutes later kicking for himself to put the Knights up 30-18.

Newcastle rubbed salt into the wounds when Will Smith chipped and chased for himself.

Mantellato kicked another to stretch the lead to 38-18.

Wests Tigers conceded 28 unanswered points in the second half to surrender a valuable halftime lead.

Newcastle ran out 38-18 winners.

Paul Fletcher: 'Players swapped footy jerseys for dinner suits'

Wests Tigers NSW Cup Coach Paul Fletcher hasn’t held back on his players after their second half capitulation at Campbelltown Sports Stadium yesterday.

Leading 18-10 at half-time against a quality Newcastle side and with fifth position up for grabs on a congested competition ladder, Wests Tigers conceded 28 unanswered points to be beaten 38-18, leaving Fletcher a very disappointed coach.

“In the first half, we carried out the plan we wanted to execute and at 18-10, we were in complete control,’’ Fletcher said.

“I got this gut feeling at half-time that the players didn’t seem right. On the way back to the coach’s box, I thought we needed a bit of luck or an error from the kick-off to spark us. It didn’t come. On our first set in the second half, we turned the ball over on play two.

“All of a sudden the bad habits we started the season with were starting to creep back in. It just looked like for the first time in a side I’ve been involved with as a Head Coach that the care factor went out the window.

“They just seemed to not want to get dirty, not get back into the grind, or get into an arm wrestle. It was like football jerseys in the first half, dinner suits in the second.

“I asked the players what happened after the game. Hardly anyone spoke. I don’t know if they were dumbfounded or were in shock as to what went wrong. I just don’t understand how you can be so good for the first 40 minutes and then so poor in the second half.

“We were a better team in the first half with three converted tries. It showed on the scoreboard. We just seemed to be treading water in the second half. It got out to 26-18 and it all seemed a bit too hard for us.

“There was no one willing to put their hand up to inspire. It was like a team of followers with no leaders. There were no positives from the second half. We didn’t do anything constructive. It was the worst 40 minutes we have played this year. “

The loss leaves Wests Tigers in seventh place on 18 competition points heading into this Saturday’s match against Mounties at Campbelltown Sports Stadium at 3pm.

“Mounties are coming off a good win and will be hungry again. We need to get some desire and show more resilience,’’ Fletcher said.

“We showed that in the previous two games when we were very good against bigger name teams and Played above ourselves to beat the Bulldogs and the Auckland Vulcans. I told the players how proud I was of them for those performances. There was nothing to be proud of yesterday. They let themselves down badly.”

Good to see Fletcher truthfully speak his mind and say that there was nothing to be proud of in last week's performance. Honesty is refreshing in this day and age.
