ya dead right.
Robbie Farah created and copped a lot of sh1t as a Tigers player and coach. But he hated losing. He did not accept defeat. Tim Sheens said that the only player he coached that was as emotional as Robbie was Ricky Stuart. Too much of it causes its own problems, but I feel that energy is what's missing from our side right now. Nearly insane stubbornness.
Maybe not everyone facing the same way, but dynamic enough to have different personalities around. Balance. We got rid of Bateman but he might have been absolutely right confronting Benji on his coaching approach to Junior and Senior players.
There is a lot of "I like footy but its not everything" vibes at the club. (Benji home early, May doesn't watch footy ever and would rather be a pro Gamer etc.). We are all junkies here. We're not like that. We would have no problem with someone destroying their families and their personal relationships for a couple of years if it meant a rabid obsession from them to get us into the top 8 and make us successful.
But writing that last bit out out sounds a lot like Michael Maguire, so again... balance.
