LIVE GAME Round 4 vs Titans *SPOILERS*

I'm new to these boards. G'day all!

That was a hard game to watch.

I'm genuinely surprised that Madge gave the direction to take the 2 points.

I'm even more surprised that our 'captains' didn't even consider the option to take the tap and go for a try to seal it out/ take the 6th tackle in the corner whilst bleeding another minute and making them travel up the pitch again (though given our luck we probably would have given away a penalty for a strip).

As always though, we just didn't have any rub of the green.

The forwards did well considering we didn't have our full outfit.

Defence was good. If we can resemble that effort for Sharks, Eels, Rabbits, I think there's potential for a decent finish to the season. We also need to survive the mid-season injuries.

Shame that Nofa was the only player with a bit of urgency, although it was an exhausting game for all players on that pitch.

I don't want to come here and rag on players, but gee whiz, can we sort our spine out? Like come on, it's killing me.
 
The 2 point penalty kick near the end of the game was the right call. The feel of that game was that the Titans attack was terrible and our defence should have been enough to hold them up when ahead by four. If we went for the try and f**ked up, you could bet your ass the ref would have piggy backed the titans to the other end to give them a penalty kick chance of levelling up the scores.
At four in front and considering the state of that game, we should have held them being 4 in front knowing that they had to score a try to win. Madden grounds that, we win the game.

Honestly I think we lose that game in both scenarios given our painful history. We don't have any luck and we sure as hell can't make any luck either.

Can't fault the ref as well. I was impressed with the officiating.

Ken also had two good chances to ice it. Execution in attack two weeks running.

What about Gildarts try that was called no try.?
what about Ken M being tackled without the ball and no,penalty?

It wasn't a try. I wish it was.

I didn't say the officiating was perfect, but it was more line with how games should be generally refereed right across all teams.

That's the luck we're missing out on and desperately need.

Your frustrations are shared by us all, your saying stuff that we have unfortunately been saying for a long time.
I agree the game was lost by taking the 2 points and inviting them back into our defensive zone.
Apart from that, i thought we gave it a good dig.

Yeah nah. They were going to take a short kick off with a couple to go, we could have lost that game earlier. If we keep them pinned and defend the set we hold the ball until the hooter.
 
So many variables in a close game that could have changed the outcome and you can create them anyway your heart desires to suit your narrative . The shoulda coulda woulda' s are just that. The facts are if Madden doesn't lose it we win. Tough lesson for kid but he is not first and he won't be the last player to make a crucial error that has tough consequences.

Kicking the ball even you're winning with 2 mins to go. Absolutely no need. The most pathetic, stupid thing you could do other than kick the ball dead. Gifts the opposition broken field play to milk a penalty, also from Brooks. You take the tackle every single time. Make them to 100m with a set defensive line.

He simply doesn't have what it takes. We had the game on a platter and he still somehow found 2 bad errors in 10 seconds to gift them the ball on halfway. He's a loser.

And forget his terrible play in general play. With both Doueihi and Hastings out it was Madden who took the side on his back and did all the kicking and playmaking

That's not fair. I will agree that Brooks had the opportunity to show some grit and leadership to get us over the line, but any player could have gotten us that crucial 4-pointer. Every player has gone home tonight with the 'I could have done more' thoughts.
