Rowdy

I am probably crossing sacred ground again but if Chris Lawrence gets another major injury early in the 2012 season do we class him as injury prone

My concern is that since August the 23rd 2010 Rowdy with my calculations hasn't put 4 NRL games back to back and for a centre thats on 375 k a season that is a concern

Don't get me wrong I am one of Rowdy's biggest fans and he is one of the best 3 centres in the game but we need him on the field to win the premiership

What do others think ??

Same case with Benji years ago. If he gets passed his injuries he should live up to his rep.

I wouldny be labelling him "injury prone" just yet.

Last year his hip was a freak injury and he was just plain unlucky. Unfortunately, when your out injured for so long, as Lawrence was, you will almost certainly have one or two minor injuries, as your body gets back to 100%. In this case his hamstring played up.

Hopefully it's the last we see of him on the sideline and he can get back to what he does best.

Didn't Lawrence play from round 18 to 22 last year? 5 games in a row and we won 4 of them.

Since he became a fulltime member of the squad, hes been pretty reliable:

2007 - 18
2008 - 24
2009 - 18
2010 - 25
2011 - 9

No chance he played 25 games in 2010 he missed at least 5-6 because of the broken jaw (not including trials either ) and it was round 19-22 he played according to my info

You may be right HT, I was checking this site here but it could be using wrong info:

he missed 2 games when he should have missed 6 with that broken jaw - thats how fit and tough the guy is.

. he missed the last game of the year and the roosters semi - and played in jersey 18 or 19 against the raiders - in fact he scored a try in that game.

the fact he was ONLY out 16 weeks or so in 2011 is a testament to the type of guy he is - that could have been career ending for at least half the NRL players out there.

It probably doesn't help his cause that he is tough & so keen to get on the field and give his all he may come back a little underdone, hence the niggling injuries after a long lay off.

I do think rowdy being out helped Ayshfords development last year.

Fingers crossed for a relatively full season for the both of them!

Great post , UnderDog ….the most professional , hardest working footballer in the game.
The guy just had back luck, but has come back from injury quicker than 95% of players in the game would.

Give you example ,...they want Chris to more a playmaker and improve his passing , after a pre season training session.
The following week he came back to training and blew all the training staff away with what he had just focus on improving in one week.
The man is all class personified ,and Iif he didn't substation that freaky hip injury , we would have won the premiership by a country mile.

Bit early to be discussing wether he's injury prone. His hip dislocation had nothing to do with being injury prone, it was a freak accident that could have happened to anyone. Sheens said after the game that in all his time he's only seen the injury once or twice and that its one of the most painful injuries imaginable. Sheens did say he'd have hamstring problems for the rest of his career. If thats the case, put it down to a freak injury, not something in his make up

That site is very accurate.

He didn't miss that much with the jaw late in the year, he came back super quick, prob 2 quick against the raiders.

When he starts rupturing hamstrings ala Wade McKinnon and Justin Hodges, maybe then you could chalk him up as injury prone.

He will be fine but he looked very under done tonight, hopefully he just needs a bit of match fitness.

Was his 1st hitout for 2012 so the main thing was to get through injury free. He looks to have done that and although he was rusty I'm expecting a big season from Rowdy, with a maiden blue jersey waiting for him!!!

He looks like he has bulked up over the off season -looked huge on Sat nite
Seemed a bit strange that Benji didnt go out to his edge much on Sat night

Watched the game on sat night & most people near me said they thought Lawrence looked big, but it was his first run & i am sure he will be better for it.

He's certainly not fat. I was sitting next to a Roosters supporter and he commented on how solid Lawrence looked up top. Wouldn't be surprised if he's a touch heavier than his listed weight of 96kg. He just needs match time now and I'm sure the speed is still there.
