Roy Masters SMH Article re WT ownership

This development, whilst not surprising, highlights exactly why both clubs went down the JV path. Painful, but right decision.

I don't need to repeat which side of the fence I came from, but I agree.

As long as the stability and future of the Wests Tigers brand is ensured I will be happy.

After the way Balmain has treated Wests…. if they go under I wont shed a tear.

I'm not saying there haven't been problems over the years but had Balmain chosen another joint venture partner (or took the chance to stand alone) then Western Suburbs would have been out the back door and had zero interest in the NRL.
.

These sort of superiority complexes is the reason why some west magpies fans have a chip on their shoulder.
Wests would have had a joint merger with the dogs and balmain would have gone with parra. Neither would have been a 50/50 joint venture but wests wouldnt have been out the door as you put it.

Balmain effectively saved Wests from extinction - something that you Wests dinosaurs will never admit.
Obviously being part of a successful joint venture isn't to your liking.
To be honest , at the time , I wished both Balmain and Wests could have both survived in their own right - but we are what we are now.
I can't see there would be any way that the team will EVER be rebranded as the Magpies (which is what you and your ilk really want)
On that note I suggest you trot back to the Wests forum and pray for Balmain's demise along with the rest of your friends.

Shoe is on the other foot now….

My username says my original allegiance, Im a Magpies fan, Im also a West Tigers fan... there doesnt need to be a difference. I want none of the three brands, the Wests Tigers, Wests Magpies nor the Balmain Tigers to fade into oblivion... Whether you believe it or not, Im as passionate about them all surviving equally, unless of course that the JV could dissolve and the foundation clubs re-instated as entirely viable entities (the perfect dream).

All that said, the JV has kind of sucked for the Magpies brand, a position generally dismissed and belittled by those aligned with Balmian (as seen above by CKtiger). Im not as cynical and jaded as some Magpies fans are (I understand where they are coming from, I truly do, but understand a partnership requires give and take), though if/when my foundation club was on its knees, pants down and well greased I guarantee I would not be running condescending rhetoric.

The red-headed step child is being called on, and the poster child once seemingly entitled needs a hand... thats ok, we are family now. We all need to show some humility, clubs included, for us all to survive.

Whether we like it or not, we have needed each other before and will again. Though the best shot we have for a future is to seperate the 3 entities the WT to become their own beast run not by either foundation team, but an independant 3rd party, though unfortunately neither party would likely relinquish their grip.

Here we go … talk about misleading!
Can you tell me where I belittled the Magpie brand?
I even said I wished they could have survived.
Fact is ,if Canterbury (or Penrith) took you over you would have been gooooone.
Both wanted nothing to do about keeping any part of the Western Suburbs brand alive (yes , I can spell it - too hard to spell Balmain is it?)
My original post was in reply to one of your 'brothers' who said he'd be HAPPY for Balmain to die.
The only condescending rhetoric seems to be coming from a few old Magpies finally getting their 15 minutes of fame at the expense of their partner.
Sour grapes... no less.

Damn, you got me… on a freaken typo, seriously. Clutching at straws much?

Your back is against the wall, past it all in reality, though I am glad you have the good sense to put the effort into trying to alienate another paid voting member who all but holds your man-berries in a sling. Fortunately there are some that dont share the views of my "brothers", nor will get dragged down to your crap slinging level.

You are obviously not worth my effort or time here, thankfully not speaking on behalf of the fanbase I wish to help keep alive.

I was once told "Never argue with an idiot, they will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience." I need to listen to advice more often.

Could anything get any more petty? Christ grow up

No matter which way we look at it… Both clubs would have either been consumed by others or lost altogether.

The criteria back in 1999 no longer means anything now, what matters most now is the immediate survival of the JV. This article shows that Wests Group are prepared to look after Balmain while they get their house in order (if it happens,) in return for a little more power on the board. I feel that it is a fair compromise.

Make no mistake though, there will be no dissolution of what we now know as Wests Tigers. No matter what happens, the foundations of a marketable club has been built and to dismantle that would result in a ridiculous rebuilding period.

Any idea to the identity of "key staffers" and why they have been put on notice? Who put them on notice, Wests Group or the JV board?

You crack me up
My original post was at someone who claims to be happy with the joint venture yet claims he'd be happy to see the demise of Balmain - so much for my crap slinging.
I've never demeaned Wests - and my crack at your typo was meant as a joke (sorry if you didn't get it)
Now , because you're a paid up voting member of Wests you're holding my (and every current and former Balmain fans) man - berries in a sling? :unamused:
Methinks you've been playing with something a little close to your own man-berries a little too much.

I accept the joint venture, more so now that it might actually returns to a 50:50 partnership.

Ha it always has been Sherlock.

By the way thanks for keeping the mighty **Tigers** afloat.
