Royce sticks up for Blair at coaches night

Not to ignore or dismiss, but depending on the dynamic, Royce might be doing the right thing.

Potter being the hard taskmaster setting the bar, and Royce playing the kind ear giving encouragement and dealing with the personal stuff.

No doubt some self assigned type A legend will just call it mollycoddling and demand everyone harden up….but sometimes this is what it takes.

Look at Royce on Woods who is far and away our best forward, he demands better and picks on penalties etc. Woods might respond better to this method.

Its a great show of just how varied coaches need to be these days. Bennett does the same thing.

This would be o.k. if we had some reassurance from Royce's previous coaching experiences that it works for him. However we all know from his record that it does not work for him. A massive, massive clearance and culture change needs to take place at all levels throughout WT before season 2014 starts otherwise we will be known as the easybeats for the next few years. The question is when does this clearance and culture change begin and who instigates it. WT is rudderless at the moment, no CEO able to make decisions, a first grade side filled with lazy players and a new coach yet to instill any of the confidence required from a first grade coach.

I agree, Royce and co should be let go.

Just trying to show that there can be methods to some madness.

I reckon Royce should be bounced just like most, but his response doesn't surprise me as coaches will generally back their players.

Personally I think he is a champion. He should stick up for his players. Blair has been a terrible signing and I hope that Royce behind closed doors recognises that we need a quality backrower and Blair doesn't fit the bill. At the same time I also think he has a point - Blair is trying and Woods has had a couple of poor moments. Don't get me wrong Woods > Blair * 10.

Royce to me though comes across as a real good guy. I'm glad he is at the club.

One that has been living a lie for years and is seeing finally the fraud that he is.
He's not up to it….never has been as a coach

Sorry man. Now I get where you're coming from. He should have run down there and slapped the players or better still ran on the field and showed them what to do.

I think slapping's his only option….unless they play cards at training instead of defense work, showing them what to do doesn't seem too successful
But as long as he's Mr nice guy good for a laugh....keeps the boys amused.
