Was one of the highest rated schoolboy players ever (debuted in first grade while still at school). Injuries struck him down early on. Very skilful player and with a bit more pace would have been a chance for rep honours.
The team Wayne Pearce should have been in but was robbed.

What a team !
I always thought he was an ok fullback in a club i hated but he was an exceptional goal kicker and the best field goal exponent i have ever seen.Field goals being worth 2 points in those days.

Forty years ago, strapping Balmain Tigers second-rower Paul Sironen beat a hot field for the Dally M Rookie of the Year award.
The 21-year-old, who had previously attended the University of Hawaii on a gridiron scholarship, parlayed his outstanding introduction to first grade into a spot on the 1986 Kangaroo Tour and the first of 24 Test appearances.
'Sirro' went on to tour twice more with the Australian Kangaroos, play 14 Origins and make a record 249 appearances for Balmain before finishing up in 1998.
