Thrown forward or drifting forward it still constitutes a forward pass. How many times have we heard people say "line ball at best"? Not good enough for mine.

No, a ball drifting forward doesnt nessasarily mean it was passed forward. Hence we have such a poor understanding from officials, debate and interpretation on the subject.

If you want to make a ball which traveles forward ruled as a Forward Pass, you will put an end to 'advantage line' running and really dampen the 'running game' which makes our game so exciting…
