I have to feel for the Eels fans after they read his letter.

They'll be heartened when they find out who the Eels signed as his replacement

Reece Robinson

Yes, I'm sure the Eels will be happy with the the signing of Ray Rice

He'll be back, but good luck to him. He'll probably get bored anyway, massive difference from playing an 80 minute game when he's on the field for all 80 minutes, to a game of 60 minutes where he won't be on the field for even that length of time.

If he starts off as a punt receiver there wouldn't be too much too pick up on.
It's just a kick return in which he has done 1000's of times in his career.
There goes Parra fans hope of a title shot in the near future. Can't replace a player like Hayne.

Bad for the game.Nrl really needs to be careful. Can't get tickets to the soccer it's sold out this weekend. Average wage of a NFL player is $1.9 million per season. Top players getting paid $20 mill plus.Nrl can't keep top athletes what's the highest payed player $1 mill or so?.

8 to 10 super teams super leaugue coming our way again I reckon.Cut out all the substandard stuff and local grounds and upscale it all with fewer teams. Personally I don't like it but it will happen sooner or later.

I suppose we'd better hope that Tedesco is signed up asap and happy , the Eels would have some big bucks to flash around

Tedesco should have been wrapped up five months ago. If Mayers stuffing around costs us Tedesco, then even Jerries love affair with him will be over.
Happy , did you say in another thread that Tedesco actually was signed. Seems like some games are being played at the top level.
Wasn't professionalism being spoken about here lately?

It seems kinda bad form to me that he didn't say anything to Sheens or apparently to the club till last night.
Like good on him and I hope he succeeds but surely your coaches should've known when you were even considering it??

No mate haven't said James has been re-signed , the club had been claiming it and then Mayer tweeted recently that they were still sorting his contract out after he was questioned by a Forum member why Tedesco wasn't named in that Wests Tigers official audit /slash season report that they did (was a thread about it )

On Hayne I think he can make it as a NFL player but it will probably take him at least two seasons to pick the game up

In a kick return team , he could be useable pretty quickly , but as a wide receiver or running back it will take him an age to learn all the play books and if you make a mistake and don't run the right route or in the right place it costs you big time in NFL

The problem with the NRL is that the Cap loopholes lead to a very uneven field. Some smart club operators are taking full advantage of the loopholes whilst other clubs are not prepared to bend the rules. Check some of the premiers over the past years - only one team has been pulled up but others have sailed very close to the wind. If NRL crowds drop and soccer and AFL take over in NSW there won't be much gate receipts or TV payments left to pay the huge sum some NRL players are looking for.

I wish some of our players would man up and follow their dreams …

Rowe is free to leave if he can find another club.

I remember years ago, Willie Mason trying his luck at an NFL contract . Needless to say, he didn't get very far

Irrespective of whether he signs with us, my understanding is Teddy cannot sign with anyone else. Its a condition of pulling out from the Raiders.

Jarryd Hayne quits NRL to pursue NFL career
Date October 15, 2014 - 10:27AM
Brad Walter

Parramatta superstar Jarryd Hayne is set to take leave from the NRL after being given a conditional release by the Eels to try his hand at NFL. Hayne, who has withdrawn from the Kangaroos Four Nations squad announced on Tuesday, told a press conference that he felt the need to "follow his heart" even though he knew there would be "dark days" ahead.

The 27-year-old fullback, who had another year to run on his contract with the Eels recently visited Seattle Seahawks, but said he has no current options with them or any other franchise.

Hayne wil be aiming to join a train-on team for the next 12 months as the rosters are closed for the 2014 NFL season.

Eels chairman Steve Sharp said the Eels were devastated to lose their "favourite son", and that the door is always open.
