I'd take him for a clean swap and put him straight in!

Too many read too much into Ipswich GF win. Outside of the Hooker and Anderson, the rest of thier squad was ok, with Griffin probably being 3rd best…. It was the tactics which beat everyone.

I feel Griffin will play NRL, but I'm not sure how much of an impact he will make. Time will tell?!

Their 5/8 was good too particularly in defence.

Appears that the Tigers must be considered by the Broncos as a feeder club. Unbelievable, if true!!

to me, its becoming more and more so that the tigers are merely a feeder club of juniors and unwanted players to the wealthy nrl teams anyway. broncos, sharks, seaeagles, etc.
maybe it suits the nrl to keep propping up the tigers so as to use their junior talent for the benefit of the "big name" clubs.
the cap is a farce, the rich get richer (talent wise) the rest get the picture.

It also says a lot for where we are that we will bemoan the loss of a guy who is untested at fg level and who by all reports was struggling in the off season. You'd think they'd poached Tedesco.

Especially when your hopes and dreams aren't coming to fruition CB

I'm not saying it is the issue , but he has had homesickness issues in the past

When I originally spoke to my person in the know at the Ipswich Jets , he sort of hinted he had his concerns if he didn't crack NRL (after rereading our initial contact)

I know, but his attitude has improved massively in the off-season… He will have a big year!

Apparently his wife and child didn't come to Sydney with him and he has signed a 2nd tier contract with the Broncos so he can go back and play with Ipswich.. The deal was done on wednesday

Well if they didn't travel with him that's just absurd. If he was going to take a genuine shot at the NRL he would undoubtedly need his wife and child with him here. It wouldn't be easy to uproot them all and presumably take his wife further away from the support of her family, but for the shot at the big time and the money that goes with, it's what they had to do. For someone that had some homesickness moving to Ipswich from Mount Isa, Sydney was always going to be a massive challenge for him.

Always doomed to fail if this is indeed the case. (and yes i know others have moved away from their families for footy before, but they hadn't had the issues Billy had either)

When it comes to juniors the Tigers need give an ultimatum to the NRL.
Either do something to reward clubs for producing their own juniors (e.g salary cap dispensation) or we'll stop producing them. Not just us but clubs like Parramatta and Penrith also. That'll decrease the talent level of the NRL pretty quick.

but yeah i do see your point, they should expand the 200k loyalty discount on the cap they have

All clubs should be expected to use their own local juniors, so it puts ALL clubs on the same level. I must say I don't know how some of these clubs are under/on the salary cap, with the top players they have on their playing roster :crazy

But by not bringing them with him it seemingly had a strong impact and he was underwhelming throughout pre-season. A stable life off the field may have enabled him to throw 110% into pre-season. Or it may not have made any difference, we'll never know.

But sure it's a catch 22, and they decided not to gamble on his abilities.

Anyways, good luck to him and his family up there (still waiting on official confirmation though)
