Rumour - Steve Folkes a possible coaching contender

6 pages and it's still just conjecture. In any case, it doesn't matter who is selected, they are going to have to be a man manager and disciplinarian. Someone who can snap the group out of the "here for fun" mentality and treat it like the profession that they're paid handsomely for (in comparison to us peasants.) They will have to go about it carefully though, as too strong a culture shift could cause him to lose the dressing room and we can't afford to pay out two coaches at the same time, we'll go close to the razors edge just paying out Sheens.

When you look back at the last 10 years, especially the Longmuir /humphreys era, it seems the CEO had a lot of problems managing the coach. As We don't know who is on the selection problem my fear is that the CEO may go for a coach he can control and I don't think that should be the major selection criteria.

It's a poisoned chalice no matter what. It will take a special coach to keep the board happy, and keep the playing group happy all the while dismantling the culture of the club that Sheens fostered. We can't afford to pay another coach out so if the coach loses the playing group we're stuck with however many years of underachievement. This is where the board, much more the CEO, will earn their pay.

We all know, and I believe that our hierarchy also know that Mister Folkes is the man for the vacant coaching position. Folksie is one tough hombre in more ways than one. He would never ask any player to do a job that he hasn't or wouldn't do himself. He is a very hard man physically and mentally and is exactly what we need to stamp out the clowning around of our $200000 to $500000 show ponies who consider their mateship off the field more important than their win at all costs attitude on the field. My philosophy in life is: If you don't play then you simply do not play. I'm inclined to believe that Folksie has a similar belief. I have no doubt that he is the man to mould our team into a structured well drilled force for the years ahead.

BRING FOLKES BACK TO TIGER TOWN!

If Folkes becomes coach he certainly won't stand for the following;

1\. Show ponies and TV stars - you are here to play football and you are being paid handsomely for it. If you want to be a TV star don't cause drama for the club just go to drama school in your spare time.
2\. "I miss my mates" - this is a football club not a children's playground.

Tim Sheens did install discipline early in his time with Tigers. Unfortunately he lost this discipline, the players became media identities and thought that they could run the club to suit themselves. Tigers need a coach who can install discipline, mental toughness, physical fitness, initiative and experience. Steve Folkes has all these attributes, much more than any other avaiable coach.
