Rumour: West Tigers big signing to be announced soon.

If the news on Qld TV is true, i wouldn't be unhappy if Souths are paying most of his contract. Hopefully we have got him for a good price and it doesn't impact on us buying a gun centre or 2nd rower for season 2017.

Well, Grant is signed with Souths for another 3 yrs, so its very plausible to think they would be topping his contract up, similar to Manly with Ballin. I'm clearly in the minority who think he'd be a great pick up.

Depends which Grant shows up at the WT's GNR

Based on current form , not a fan

I think its a smart signing if we are not paying overs - if as reported he is on $450k at Souffs and we get him for no more than $300k then I think we are doing well. An experienced 27 yr old prop with 139 top grade games and no off field baggage sounds like a bargain.

Is it a minority???

Im def on side!

Im actually fingers crossed excited!

Didn't Woods, Farah, Grant get picked in the NSW front row in 2012.
Grant has potential to regain form as from the look of him with Souths he was not fit enough.

It is on this forum.

I was told again Roberts isn't going to Brisbane and he has agreed to a deal in Sydney.

So if Grant is holding up this announcement, we should be in a good position to get him at the right price.

for season 2016 he will be handy. As we are light on, in the front row. 2017-2018 he will be less handy with the likes of Graham and Griffin coming through. During the Origin period and covering injury, someone with experience will have to slot straight in. However if all goes well with Graham and Griffin by 2018 I think he'll be playing a bit of NSW cup.

Would they really be propping up the deal for the full three years? I have my doubts, which is why I think it's a pretty big concern.
As per BB's post, he's already been pushed out of one club due to his bad contract, and it looks like another will do the same soon. Taking on bad contracts is what got us into this salary cap mess in the first place, so we'd be crazy to take on another one here and now.

Happy with Tim Grant coming to use on a subsidised contract, with a massive point to prove, and entering the peak period of a prop forward's career.

We are short up front, and he would be an improvement on whoever else has been earmarked to sit on the bench as part of the prop rotation.

I'll wait and see if the rumours have any substance, however I don't see a lot of downside to this.

**James Roberts is set to sign a two-year deal with the Brisbane Broncos**
>
CHRISTMAS has come early for Brisbane with James Roberts poised to turn his back on bigger money offers in order to fill the shoes left vacant by veteran centre Justin Hodges.
>
Set to sign a two-year-deal, the 22-year-old finally made the decision that his future lies at the Broncos on Wednesday morning.
>
Roberts will join his new teammates in the New Year after agreeing to a deal which will see him in the maroon and yellow until at least the end of 2017.
>
Roberts has overlooked both South Sydney and St George Illawarra in order to develop his craft under the experienced tutelage of coach Wayne Bennett.
>
Finally putting an end to weeks of speculation, the centre was inundated with interest with the Dragons and Rabbitohs submitting offers for Roberts, while Parramatta and Cronulla also expressed interest earlier in the piece.
>
The former Gold Coast star became a free agent as a result of a bungled contract which saw a staff member lose his job after admitting to forging Roberts’ signature on the NRL paperwork.
>
Having knocked back the Dragons earlier in the week, Roberts was torn between linking back with the club who gave him his NRL start in 2011 or joining the 2015 grand finalists.
>
Ultimately the chance to learn under Bennett secured the move with Roberts set to relocate north of the Gold Coast after Christmas.
>
With a chequered history of behavioural problems which saw him leave Redfern and Penrith before landing at the Titans, Roberts’ decision to stay out of Sydney’s fishbowl and continue his development in Queensland has demonstrated a sign of maturity.
>
Eyeing representative selection next year, the Dally M centre of the year believes the Broncos can help him make the jump to becoming a State of Origin level player.
>
Bennett’s first chance to see his new recruit in full flight comes when Roberts lines up for the Indigenous All Stars on February 13 against Bennett’s World All Stars team at Suncorp Stadium.
>
The cousin of Anthony Mundine, Roberts’ move to Red Hill could mean that utility back Dale Copley will need to find a new home.
>
Copley was expected to take the centre spot vacated by Hodges however with Roberts entering into the mix, Copley could well end up on the Gold Coast with the Titans in need of two centres as they finalise their 2016 roster.
>
He is also being linked with Parramatta and Newcastle are also in the market for an outside back.
>
Copley, 24, made just nine appearances for the Broncos in 2015.

and now confirmed

**New Centre Of Attention**
>
THE NRMA Insurance Broncos today announce the signature of Dally M Centre of the Year James Roberts.
>
Roberts and the Broncos reached agreement overnight on a two-year contract that will bring him to the Brisbane club for the 2016 and 2017 seasons.
>
Roberts will report to training when the Broncos resume their 2016 pre-season on January 4, and shapes as an exciting replacement for retired captain Justin Hodges.
>
Broncos' chief executive Paul White said he felt the new arrangement would be a great fit for both the club and the player.
>
"We certainly did not expect this opportunity and James and his advisor have conducted themselves very well during the negotiation," he said.
>
"James is obviously motivated to play for the Broncos for the benefit he will see both on and off the field.
>
"The negotiations have certainly not been just about the contract value.
>
"James is one of the most exciting young players in the NRL and we believe playing in the Broncos' system can help take his game to the next level."
>
Roberts' advisor Jeremy Donovan said while the decision had taken some time, they were confident a move to the Broncos would be best for his personal development.
>
"This has been a long and exhausting process, but one that has supported James’ growth," said Donovan.
>
"He has had the opportunity to make a decision on his playing career and where he believes he will thrive not just as a player, but as a person.
>
"James has had the opportunity to consider what club and culture best fits him and his family.
>
"He is incredibly grateful for the respect each club has shown him during the course of this process, and is now focused on running out in the Brisbane Broncos' jersey next season."
>
Just 22 years of age, Roberts has scored 32 tries in just 52 NRL matches, including 16 in 24 games for the Gold Coast Titans last season.
>
James Roberts has now joined the Broncos Family for 2016\. How about you?
