Running NRL table from 2012 -

He wasnt a good coach.
Head of football operations overseeing the development of pathways and such, sure.
Did the club give him every opportunity to succeed?
The club couldn’t deal with Moses, but Sheens managed to get a few players into the club including Galvin, then he got caught in the crossfire. Sheens is now coaching advisor to probably the best RL school in NSW, with agents signing these kids on their 15th birthday.
Sadly Galvin could be the last we see of that talent pool?

I find myself agreeing with you more often than not- but on this one...

Sheens was a good coach. He was a WAY better talent scout.

But you can't discount a multiple premiership winning coach as 'not good'.

Biggest mistake the club made was letting him go the second time instead of redefining his role into some kind of development/scouting guru.

Like I said- there was always a plan with Sheens.

Sheens realised early last year as a coach the game had gone by him and he needed to retire and get out. By round 10 last year he didn't want to be doing it. Coach should have never been on the cards but i agree that he could have stayed on in some back office role as a junior talent scout as he had the nose for it for 40 years. I guess they wanted to just rid him entirely from the club as he would have been a shadow over Benji going forward when things go sideways. You could imagine the articles this year if Sheens was still at the club in a non coach role. It would be endless about Benji seeking out Sheens.

No they didnt, as they made him the coach.
His forte may have been coaching a dozen years back, but using him that way last year was setting him up for failure.

Win percentages of 38 and 39% for Wests and Balmain fans in the NRL era.

Only drops to 35% if you discount 05,10,11. Been wondering if I would trade 05 to be sitting where the Eels are?
They average a spoon every fifth year since 1947. Parra(doesn't)matta have been consistently irrelevant for a very long time but three more consecutive spoons and we will have a superior spoon winning percentage.

While that may seem a convenient explanation, can we afford to continue saying this about so many coaches and players? And as a club, not accepting responsibility for things going pear shape?
We remain a club that attracts opportunity seekers or those wanting to cash in on their reputation. We don’t improve the reputation of those in the footy dept.
Richo is starting to show signs of frustration already.

Depressing statistic for sure.

It would be interesting to see how many CEO's and coaches each club have had during that time.

I was 50/50 in joining the storm when they started. I stayed loyal. Lol that worked at well.
About a Hundred years ago a relative decided our fam goes for the Magpies.
it’s in my blood and, you don’t go against the Fam. Nana BF trained me well.
Loyalty seems underrated these days. I appreciate you staying with us brother.
Tigpies for ever.

Couldn't do that... Would rather the team folded

On the other side of the coin, that 50/50 joining decision worked out well for Bellache a couple of years into the joint venture.
