Almost sounds like they’re close now. Multiple times this year madge has talked about how happy he is that Russell got fit and is training well now. Gave him a huge rap in tonight’s press conference

Big effort by Russell Packer well done. Poor bloke has been crippled by injury he looks fitter than I can remember. We need him he’s a leader and doesn’t take a backward step.

I was wrong very wrong. I couldn’t see Madge picking him again after the brain snaps. The distance between that performance and Clarke is huge. Defensively he hit hard and physically dominated blokes on the ground. Good metres ran hard and always gets a quick play the ball.

I have had nothing good to say about Packer but loved how he played tonight. Maguire mentioned him in the presser and said people think he had a problem with him but it was basically that he had foot problem that the medical team has managed to help him with and now he can train again and earned his start. Couldn't be more pleased for him.
