I remember hearing about Burgess, and he was to tour our facilities until Rusty nabbed him. Apparently he went to SS for less than what we offered him. I'm pretty sure Sheens was the one saying it, on some league show. That's what i remember.
Anyway who gives a F@@k, he's not a WT.

I think Burgess coming to WT was mentioned by someone on here, at one stage, because of his friendship with Ellis, but it was just wishful thinking. We were definitely linked to Graham though, but lost out as per usual. Both have turned out to be great NRL players - ah hindsight!

Crusader is right,he knocked back $300k deals to sign a $150k one with Souths,that is fact,as he got stuck in customs and his football earnings were leaked out at $150k.
Great work by Rusty,getting a player to drop his earnings in england,and sign for 50% of what 2 other clubs were offering in australia to go to souths.
Nothing suss about that IMHO.

Nothing to see there :slight_smile: I think the living accommodation that was provided tipped the scales. If memory serves me right he was put up at one of Russell's waterfront properties.
I have said it many times you can legally exceed the salary cap in so many ways, the Broncos are the masters of it.
