Sack Sheens Thread

I must be asleep dreaming and you people must be figments of my imagination cos i believe i just saw an article suggesting Sheens may be under pressure and that just doesn't happen in waking life

Interesting that this article is around. Is someone in Leadership at Concord finally asking the same questions we all are about Sheens? If so about time!.

Three semi's in 15 years. That about says it all. All members should email the club and inform them that unless he goes, then they will not be renewing their membership until he does.

Ha I would give kidneys to see his happen. Imagine the amount of emails rolling in all labelled "no Sheens or no members" I think then they can afford to pay him out for the next 2 years.

It was written by Rothfield wasn't it?

Yeah, I think it's just Rothfields hatred of all things Tigers that's prompted this article. Whatever it takes though.

It was a nothing article meaning exactly that, nothing. A more aggressive campaign needs to take place before our board even think twice about sacking Sheens.

Our only hope is that Sheens goes to the Warriors. And if he takes Benji with him well so be it.

Wow the dunce rothfield is actually right about something never thought I'd see that happen

Is it time Tim Sheens was given the punt as coach of Wests Tigers?

Three finals in 15 years … is Tim Sheens' time up at the Tigers? Source: Mark Evans / News Limited
Wests Tigers are set to miss the NRL finals and a majority of foxsports.com.au users say the buck stops with Tim Sheens.

They began the season as competition favourites, but Sunday's dismal capitulation against Sydney Roosters has all but reduced the Tigers to spectators for the first weekend of finals.
\
\
\
With their season on the line and everything to play for, the Tigers could only complete 21 of 33 sets in one of their worst performances of the year.
\
\
\
To make the semis, the Tigers must now upset Melbourne Storm at Leichhardt Oval and hope either Penrith knock over Brisbane Broncos or Canberra lose by a big margin to the Warriors.

The likely result will lower Sheens' record to just three finals appearances in 15 seasons at the head of the Tigers.

To put that in perspective, just six weeks ago Canberra coach David Furner was poised to get the sack for his club's sub-par performances.

Since the beginning of his tenure in 2009, Furner has taken the Raiders to a finals appearance in 2010 and is now likely to add to that this season.

So should Sheens take Furner's place on the chopping block?

On Monday, we asked foxsports.com.au users whether the Test coach was under pressure to keep his job at the Tigers. At the time of writing, 61 per cent of you voted "yes: the Tigers continue to underachieve under Sheens".

TigerM of NSW said: "Time for Tim to be gone, we need new thinking. How can such a talented roster end up being so ordinary?

"If you think that the coaching is not the problem, then look at the Dogs. But in saying that, there are some players who should be looking at themselves as well.

"Disgusting effort all year from a team that should have been fighting for the premiership."

Ross of Sydney said Sheens is "long past his use by date yet is unaccountable for results", while Tommy Handgun of Redfern blamed the media for Sheens' lack of accountability.

"Sheens is a media myth. Of course he has to go. The Tigers have just had their "Golden Era" and what have they to show for it? One premiership and a couple of semi finals appearances in 10 years.

"Most other clubs that would be underachieving. But somehow, Sheens has been able to convince the media he is a coaching God. They will never win another premiership while ever he and the "world's greatest player" are there. Both all hype, no substance."

So is it time for Sheens to go?

Now thats a better article. Kills me to say it, but maybe the best thing would be if Melbourne put 50 on us this weekend. Then it will get hot

His STRENGTH is bring along junior players at a rate that allows them to develop to their full potential.
I heard from the mouth of a couple of junior players parents, that he would call the junior reps coach to see how they were coming along, & even call the players from time to time. He puts alot into it, & it really sounded as though his job with the club was his life, not just his job (maybe thats his problem!..).

His weakness has to be his 'gambling' on players out of position. Very frustrating! even from a fans perspective.
Moltzen hadn't played in the halves since rd 3 this year, & suddenly he's the best option!
I feared we'd made the wrong choice in offering him the long term contract (including a coaching director role post the main job), and the last few months have confirmed this.
HE MADE THE decisions to put Moltzen, Ayshford, Lawrence in the halves, it hasn't worked (TOM HUMBLE ??)
HE MADE THE decisions to put Moltzen at fullback despite lacking confidence, it hasn't worked!~
HE MADE THE DECISIONS TO LET GIBBS GO (It didn't work! Im not concerned about Fifita, at Tims age im sure he hasn't got the patience to work with a young hot head!)

Got to be cast aside unfortunately! The results aren't there Tim! Aurevoir

No proper halfback for 6 seasons,2 finals appearances in 7 seasons since we won,no accountability for idiotic team selections, the lunatics are running the assylum, time is well and truly passed to go,but the board havent got enough bottle to even put him on notice, let alone sack him.

What the Tigers need is 20,000 fans booing them off after the final game of the season…if that doesn't ring in their ears all off season and spur the club to do something about the pathetic 2012 season nothing will....

to be a leader you need a degree of arrogance.

sheens has that .

what yanks my chain is his lack of readiness to say its my fault- he doesn't take any responsibility for the failures.

the corporate dollar demands success.Make a change.

and give us a ceo with bottle- bring back steve noyce.- what a man for all seasons he was.

buy a halfback and put the boy back to 5-8.

Finally there is awareness on this issue. My biggest concern is beating the Storm after the Broncos beat Penrith and Raiders beating the Warriors. Sheens will then not be on the hot seat.

Particularly if the Broncs get rolled Friday night with everything being on the line for us

What's the bet that will probably happen now. Maybe the players are purposely playing this way to be rid of Sheens?

The Tigers heirachy took a major gamble on Sheens at the end of the 2002 season when they signed a coach who had a less than glorious time at the North Qld Cowboys that saw Sheens go on stress leave/sick leave prior to his departure/sacking, by all accounts Tim was a broken man from his Cowboys association.
A gradual improvement in performances saw the fledgling side take out the 2005 Premiership in flamboyant fashion and then the rot set in, Scott Prince's will I or won't started the trend that saw the Tigers on the fringe of the Top 8 for the next 4 seasons when they should have qualified each year.
In 2010 Sheens stated that if the Tigers again failed to qualify for the Finals then he would hang up the clip board but the Tigers won and won and in 2010 & 2011 finished each season strongly ensuring that Sheens didn't have to fall on his sword, however in both seasons the Tigers capitulated to teams that went on to make the Grand Final.
For some bizarre reason the Tigers were installed as Premiership favourites at the start of 2012 and have rarely looked Top 8 material let alone a Premiership winner, the ocaisional moment of brilliance has regulary been overshadowed by complete ineptitude, Mr Sheens is at the end of his tenure as coach as he has no more to offer the players in the terms of a coaches knowledge, now is the time for Tim to gracefully stand aside to avoid the same debacle that saw his departure as the Cowboys coach 14 years ago.
Tim has had a good run at the Tigers, he's clocked up 10 years and that is a lifetime in coaching terms, he has now qualified for a Gold watch and long service leave, farewell Tim before there is a revolution as there has apparently been no evolution since 2005.
