Salary cap stress time

Congrats to Tiges for finally snaring their man,but gonna be interesting juggling salary cap with our third $400k player…we may well give the rorters a run for their money in this department!
Way I figure it,weve got Benji, farah & Lote all around $400k,Ellis,Galloway,Payten & lawrence all around $300k,& Gibbs,TNT,Heigno all around $200k..these 10 players add up by themselves to $3mill,leaving just $1.3 mill for the other 15 players
Seems quite a stretch
All the above are media estimates ,& occasionally just plain guesses, but doubt theyre too far off the mark.
If true,it means that there mite be a bit of a clean out of some of the journeyman first graders, who are going to be receiving more attractive offers outside..?

Most of these estimates are from the media, which means they are just that…estimates.None of us know what they really get,& good luck to 'em.
But none of these estimates seem too unrealistic.
As for Lote,I thought there was a cap on 3rd party payments ($100k),& Lote doesnt get out of bed for under $400k..maybe more
My point was we now have at least 4 "marquee"players(incl Ellis),which is more than most clubs,so juggling sarlary cap will be challenging

Buy now pay later - The ethos of this Generation.

Worry about that later, Today we are happy….....

It will definitely be hard to retain everyone. I just hope to God there is a big increase in the salary cap around the 2012 mark - Farah, Marshall, Galloway, Lawrence, Tuqiri and Moltzen is a lot of quality in key positions for one team to have.

Where in the media have you heard that Galloway, Payten and Lawrence are all on $300,000\. I'd be very surprised if it was that much…

Galloway, Payten and Lawrence are nowhere near 300k.

Galloway 220-230k
Payten 180k
Lawrence 200k

… still amazes me how O'Hara was on 450k lol

I've heard some estimates in the telegraph around how much the cap is going to increase when the new commission is set up and it's significant. Can't remember how much it is. But, if we backloaded this contract to 2012, when the new TV deal is signed and the cap is increased, this could be a great strategy by humpreys.

Once the cap increase is done, we will have room to resign all the other guys.

I read that after the next tv deal with a commission, they could possibly get the cap up to around the 6 million mark.
I think they said they could possibly raise it to 4.6 million before the next tv deal with money saved by having a commission.

Yeah, that's what I remember too. If we can lock down blokes like Molzten and Ashford into 2012 + beyond with today's cap, then that will bode well for us when the ceiling is raised.

Any-one else heard the rumour that souths rekon they have signed Lawrence? Hope there is no truth to it.

I think someone is having you on… there is no way Sheens would let him go, he is still on contract and Souths would have used 100% of their cap on their forward pack.

Cant keep everyone…

O'Hara was on 450k Madness

O'Hara was on nowhere near that much. He was paid overs though, no denying that.

they can be paid as much as they want from a 3rd party as long as that 3rd party has no other connection to the club

Yeah …....How'd that work out for Gaz, Gower, SS$BW, Johns etc

There is not a great deal of that sort of money out there as you may think....
