It comes down to management. We signed Mbye, Reynolds, Packer, Matulino to save face for management on way overs after losing Teddy, Moses, Woods. No lessons were learned from the Humphrey’s back ended deals which crippled us. When younger players come good or bargain players ie Taupau, Addo Carr, Korobiete, Brown and others come good we have no money left to upgrade and they leave.

We got out of the mess last year because of two players. Benji and Robbie playing for peanuts and arguably better than any of the higher paid recruits.

We have to be patient and build slowly and management has to stay out of the way of Madge and Hartigan who are proving to be more astute in valuing players but also playing a longer game with youngsters.

BJ is a good example subsidised for this year but is in a 3 year deal and 28. He has talent and Madge is backing himself to get it out of him. I’d it goes wrong by the end of next year it’s only 1 year to cop. Douihei similar subsidised for two years but a solid deal 4 years and he’s young.

We all know Tigers have to pay overs but slowly that will change with a competitive team, COE and kids coming through.

I'll put it out there now, it won't matter what new players we sign until the bash and barge run one out game plans are scrapped for good. And BJ is a dud signing, add him to Mbye, Reynolds.

That article is bullcrap . You have farahs 333k, Taylor’s 500k, Mcqueens 400k , Benjis 200k , Jennings 350k Eisenhuths 250k and on it goes . How does that equate to 300k ? You can’t backend contracts more than a certain point , after the NRL brought that rule in a few years ago. The telecrap just make stuff up . There’s no logic at all

BTW, THE_POM came on and flat out denied that "$300K left in the cap for 3 players" thing. It doesn't even make sense. The minimum NRL wage is $105K, so that's not even possible, otherwise we would be over the salary cap next year. The Daily Telerag truly is not even good for wiping your arse.

For players in your top 27-30, the min. wage is $70K, even then, that's peposterous that we would only be able to pay that amount for the remaining members of our squad. We have so much cap space being freed up next year, and I highly doubt anyone was extended and given a huge increase.

What? No mention of the 11 players off contract?
Cleary left a few booby traps behind when he slammed the door, but surely they were approved by the board.

Well my question is Doueghi is on $600k as per Zero tackle, is that his contract price and there is a subsidy involved with Souths?
I know he was on $500k at Souths, do we know how much we are chipping in.
$600k is overs as far as i am concerned as well but the Roosters were chasing him, he is a local Junior, is passionate about the club, but think playing out of position currently, good 5/8 prospect if performs warranted that $.

IDK, but I do remember the contract negotiations dragged on because of it. Last I heard, WT wanted $300k and Souths were only willing to tip in $150k.

Didn’t Cleary want full control of player roster before he signed on as coach. Seem to remember reading something like that when he signed

“Full control” as in no vetoes? I don’t know? I can’t imagine any board being that stupid. But “full control” meaning coach has absolute freedom of choice? Maybe?

Don’t know if it got over the line. Can’t remember where I read it. So could have come from here but for some reason I remembered it. Can’t even remember what the wife asked me to do before she left this morning ?

The article is probably correct re the number of players left to sign for 2021.

We currently have 25 players contracted for next year and it looks like we will extend McIntyre and offer Eisenhuth another year. That's 27 players and only 3 vacancies.

I can't believe we have only $300k left in the cap, however. That doesn't make sense.

What we don’t know is how a lot of contracts have been structured re other clubs top ups. Maybe we now have to pay full freight on all our contracts and the Dogs and Souths are not topping up anymore.
Anyway it’s impossible to really know where we are with our cap, but I would take heart with POM’s comment as he is usually close to the money

The best part of the article was the last paragraph and if its true why aren't we higher up the ladder.

While often credited for their defence, statistics also reveal the Tigers are scoring more points, making more run metres, making more tackle busts and making more linebreaks under Maguire.

The article contained numerous inaccuracies, including stating that we are a chance of making the 8

That mob also said Latrell is a tiger on many occasions , i only buy their rubbish on a Friday for the form guide , the rest is sensationalism and baloney

The article may be off but our track record is pathetic. We are offloading players, not signing anyone of note with a team that can barely make the finals at its best.

Does anyone have inside word as to what our cap position actually is. Given our history fans and members have had to endure a decade of so closed salary cap issues I’d like them to set this straight. To be honest if we are in this position again it’s disgraceful.

Cleary aside who in leadership has any footy acumen. To oversee these dumb recruitment decisions.

I remember that Cleary stated that there needed to be a committee because it wasn't right for it to be on one person - i.e. the coach. I'm sure that there are checks and balances in place although we've stuffed our cap with some high dollar signings.

I read the articles today it's fake news if we don't re-sign Taylor Benji Lawrence McQueen there is at least 1.6 mill available
