Just reading in the Tele that the Tigers had urgent talks with the NRL. The supposed talks were around 'turncoat' Tim Moltzen (Tele's words) any real news on this ?

Prob just a formality or a double check before the season starts. Something to do with the top 25

Tigers' urgent cap talks
THE Wests Tigers had a major salary-cap problem that needed to be sorted during the week before Tim Sheens could finalise his side for today's clash with the Sharks. Chief executive Steven Humphreys rushed into NRL headquarters for talks with salary-cap auditor Ian Schubert. Both the NRL and the Tigers refuse to reveal details. I'm told questions were asked about how they fitted turncoat Tim Moltzen under the cap when they had originally budgeted to be without him.

A lot of assumed details from Buzz. Did we meet with Shuey? Probably.

Was it a "major salary-cap problem"? Who knows, Buzz certainly wouldn't though.

Spot on… Buzz doesn't like to admit this, but he doesn't have too many friends outside of the Sharks and Michael Ennis. And whatever details he gets, he'd most likely be getting them from the NRL end, because our top brass sure as hell don't talk to him.

"I'm told questions were asked about how they fitted turncoat Tim Moltzen under the cap when they had originally budgeted to be without him."

Told by who? Jack Daniels? It's a pretty simple equation: instead of Lui stays, Moltzen leaves it was Lui leaves, Moltzen stays. You'd think they were on similar coin…

This is the same "journo" that said SBW's manager khoder Nasser was not present at a meeting between SBW and nick politis, even though they were all photographed together at said meeting. The bloke is an absolute fool and zero research goes into his articles. It astounds me that such a bumbling idiot keeps his job, although I suppose the bar hasn't been set to high at the tele with the likes of that fat goose Webster on the books also.

You mean Brown?

We were prepared to let him go last year.

You right, I do remember Brown being shopped around last year.

The link between Brown leaving and the salary cap was debunked by Humphreys in the SMH this morning.

The most notable piece of that article was Sheens , once again, indicating to a player they'd have first crack at a spot then reneging on the deal.

He probably was on track but Tedesco was the real revelation of the off season and earned himself a three year contract.

Humble has also impressed the hell out of Sheens so it is no suprise Mitch went down the order.

what deal is that?
what if he was given first crack and tedesco out performed him during the off season and pre season.
wasn't mitch also injured during the trials.
first crack doesn't mean cement a position.
i'm assuming the 3 year deal with the raiders was to start this season.

and i never trust what a player manager says.
or a ceo for that matter
oohh and add coaches too.
trust no one

I'm sure players are smart enough to realise there are no "guarantees". It may well have been Sheens intention at that stage what with Moltzen leaving and Tedesco more of a long-term prospect.

Sheens has to pick his best team without worrying about what's been promised to who…
