SANTI AND SIRONEN APPOINTED LEADERSHIP ROLES

Wests Tigers U20s players Brendan Santi and Curtis Sironen have today been named captain and vice captain respectively of the Australian U18s Schoolboys team.
Santi was named the Player of the Carnival at the Australian U18s Schoolboys Championships at St Marys in July.
A product of Bass High School, Santi captained the NSW Combined High School team and played SG Ball for Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs this season before going on to make his Wests Tigers U20s debut against Cronulla in round 26.
Sironen enjoyed a fine season for the Wests Tigers U20s side in 2011 in between his schoolboy rugby league and Year 12 commitments at Holy Cross College, Ryde.He is viewed as a future NRL player for Wests Tigers.
Santi and Sironen will be joined on the Australian Schoolboys tour of New Zealand next month by contracted Wests Tigers players in second-rower Andrew Vela and full-back Kurtis Rowe.
A Keebra Park High School student, Vela will join Wests Tigers in 2012 after representing the Queensland Schoolboys at the Australian championships. He was named Queensland Schoolboys’ Most Valuable Player.
Kurtis Rowe, the talented Queensland Schoolboys full-back, also joins Wests Tigers next season after completing his studies at Keebra Park.
Wests Tigers CEO Stephen Humphreys wished all four players the best of luck for the tour.
“We are very pleased for the boys and it is great honour to represent the Australian Schoolboys,’’ Humphreys said.
“Brendan and Curtis will do an exceptional job as captain and vice-captain and their appointments highlight their exceptional leadership skills at a young age.
“We wish them all well for the tour.”
