Holy Cross College Ryde 26 defeated Patrician Bros Blacktown 24

Underdogs Holy Cross tonight surprised everyone with an outstanding display against a very strong Blacktown team which is full of Penrith/Parra/Wests and Bulldogs SG Ball players. Holy Cross have 2 Balmain SG ball players plus Curtis Sironen who is currently in the 20's squad, they also fielded 3 or 4 Harold Matthews players.

Cross got of to a flyer with 2 early tries to winger Max Dimarco from 2 Sironen kicks to the left corner (10-0), they then followed up with another try to Dimarco after a break by Siro who offloaded right on the try line(14-0). Mitchell Moses then foiled a Blacktown attacking raid when he raced up and took an intercept running 90 metres to score under the posts. (20-0). Blacktown hit back just before halftime (20-6).

Cross dropped the ball on the 2nd tackle of the new half and for the next 15 minutes hardly saw the Ball as Blacktown ran riot scoring another 3 tries one to David Nofaluma to take the lead 24-20\. Cross hit back with around 12 minutes left on the clock, Blacktown put in a kick which was caught by Mason Farrell 10m out from his own line who turned and beat a couple of tackles before offloading to Dimarco who raced up to the 50 before being tackled, a slick backline play then lead to an overlap for Chris Mouana to race 40m only to be tackled 1metre out by Noffa. Curtis then charged on to a pass by Moses and forced his way over to tie the game up at 24 all. Cross defused everything that the huge Blactown team threw at them in the last 10 minutes and with 10 seconds left on the clock and with Cross attacking 40m out Moses put in a chip kick and was hit late after the kick, penalty to Cross 30m out and about 15 in from touch. Moses was still down after the hit and no one seemed to want to take the kick, we've already had 2 kickers Moses and Siro but up steps Matty Woods who nailed it and got Cross home for a well deserved win.

Great game by the boys who all stood up and played well above their weight. Great start to the Schoolboy Cup, they now take on Bass Hill SHS and Illawarra SHS. This match was televised and should be on Channel 9 at 6am Sunday in 2-3 weeks don't miss it, it was a truly great game to watch.

Look forward to it. If possible post a reminder a few days before it is on TV.

Holy Cross have won their 2nd game defeating Illawarra SHS 24-6.

Max Dimarco 2, Mitchell Moses and Curtis Sironen tries, Moses 4 goals.

St Gregs are also undefeated so far in the Schoolboys Cup round games, it may well end up being a Holy Cross v St Gregs semi final if both teams win their last round games. Now that will be intersting. :righton:

In the final round games Cross play Bass Hill SHS and Gregs play Matraville SHS.

I believe that the Schoolboy Cup games start being played on Ch9 from next Sunday morning at 6am, the Cross v Blacktown game was the first of the comp but will check.

the bass high side will be hard to beat, have 2 australian school boys rep and 5-6 bulldogs sg ball team playing, including brenden santi who will be with the tigers next year

Blacktown had 20 SG Ball players and 2 recent Australian Schoolboys, Holy Cross just are a team of goers who play for each other. It will be a close game IMO.

Gregs beat Blacktown in the MCS Grand Final earlier this year. I would love to see them win another Cup - their first since 2000.

Full time coach and increased funding/support is obviously making a difference.

Holy Cross 26 def. Patrician Bros Blacktown 24, penalty goal on the siren.
I would also be interested to know if the game is available elsewhere, or if somebody who recorded it could put it on Youtube or something?
