See, the thing I don't understand

is that we HAVE senior players in the team (Gibbs, Payten, Farah, Loti, Fulton), we have LOADS of experience in our coach, yet we cannot put a play that follows a simple plan - take it up the middle for 4/5 tackles then pick ONE player to have a kick at field goal - I mean, how hard is it????

Have you ever had to do it yourself champ? we score a try and they are the best thing since sliced bread. For what its worth, I half agree with you. That set where Ayshford took it over the side line was a big nistake. Other than that set - I thought our game was brilliant and showed nore heart than I have sene for years.

I didn't think that set was that bad. They played well.

Don't get me wrong - if we score that set they are considered brilliant. But on the 3rd tackle 30 metres out in extra time - you dont work the side lines. You work the middle for a field goal. 2 tackled up the guts, then Farah or Lui over the black dot.

The roosters wen through the same thing but they did heaps more tackling in the first half yet still had the gas in the tank also… they were smart in getting their outside backs involved at all times they could and they got the necessary metres to get themselves upfield.. smart with an inexperienced team... we were dumb with the experienced team... work that out?

Hmm… I think the roosters played pretty dumb today TBH. I was thinking they will put us out when it was 5 mins to go in normal time but they never did. They had better chances at field goal (except Farah's one) but they missed it coz they weren't organised. I would be p*****d about that if I were a Roosters fan, but there's no way imma ever be one

Look, they were brave, I'll pay that. We played well, we got beaten on the day, etc.

But, come on. 10 metres out, and we try to run a miracle play with a try in the corner. In golden point.

By far the dumbest thing I've seen us do in years. I was ropable, my fist is still hurting from slamming it into my seat. That seals up the game. And, Farah being our captain and having kicked alot of field goals himself in the past, should have stepped up, told the boys what to do, and had a shot from 20 out. Even if he misses, at least it's the sane thing to do.

God damn it I'm angry/depressed.

you shift from side to side to provide room up the middle genius!

defences are not that stupid to give you a free shot from range!

We'd already missed a couple of field goals by then. The players saw an opportunity and went for it. I'm not going to criticise them for that.

There's a difference between shifting from side to side and getting pushed over the sideline. it was too risky, and in my opinion, cost us the game and a week off.

There is a fine line between glory and failure - and we tread it every week.

No risk - no reward!!

However - my point was that setting for a field goal does not merely involve forwards plodding up the middle 20!

Aside from how to best make the required yards to get into range - the kicker needs width from the play the ball on their kicking side!

I don't know mate. Like, its true that we play with risk and tread that line, but really. There is a time and a place.

Deep into golden point in a final is not a time for risks. It's a time for kicking a field goal. ESPECIALLY when your 10 metres out. Every other team would have done this, and even when the Bulldogs failed to do this against Penrith a couple of weeks back I called it a very idiotic play.
