Seven tigers players invited to "Blues in waiting" camp.

how exactly is Stuart going to get a better assessment of his options by "narrowing down" the list to 50+ than he is just by general scouting?

Welcome to the forum.
I think its more or less about giving the future origin players a chance to mix and have a run together to familarise themselves with potential team mates and to gel a bit. Which will allow a smoother transition into the origin arena.
IMO its just an opportunity to throw the ball around with a few line ups and to establish combinations that could appear a few years down the track, not an imediate thing.

not one player who played in the four nations is named so why would lawrence be named he has obviously taken his game to the next level and with Jennings not named either they could be the likely centre combination for the future

farah was mentioned for the leadership group and none of the others that were mentioned are named (lyon, gidley, gallen, hayne etc.)

i believe gibbs is recovering from a knee op and wasnt considered. He has been apart of city country the last few years so obviously someone out there wants him in rep.

When you look at it all our NSW players were named from the top 17 realistically bar fulton, payten and gibbs, so the future looks bright for the tigers

NO 4 nations players - That's It Bazz - Well done.

Good opp to bond and to instil some more confidence and to give the youngsters a goal.

i really dont see keating, hodkinson, mccrone, reddy, leilua or kelly as nsw callibre players although i guess they all have a bit of development left in them.
i think gibbs is too much of a quiet achiever to gain recognition from the nsw selectors, this could be a reflection on his attacking game as he doesnt really break the line like mannah or fifita. however gibbs saves as many linebreaks as either of those guys make. unfortunately that wont get his picture in the telegraph. also he has had a bad reputation with many of the nsw old boys ever since he decked kane cleal in a game about eight years ago.

I reckon its great news for all those blokes, but particularly the young guys. We might have to be careful that they keep their wits about them though. Hopefully it drives them to be successful at that level rather than give them all a big head!

I reckon the squad is a combination of rewarding consistent performers who are yet to make the next level but have been consistently close, showing the young blokes what it takes to make the next level, along with giving the fringe players a taste of the next level. I think it will only provide a minor benefit, but any benefit is good

Ricky Stuart earmarks seven future Origin stars

THEY are the potential NSW Origin stars who are not even famous in their own lounge rooms.

None have played a single NRL game.

But as Blues coach Ricky Stuart plants the seeds to end five years of Queensland Origin domination, these seven young unknowns represent a leap of faith into the future for NSW.

Schoolboy stars, Toyota Cup whiz kids and genetically blessed - Josh Jackson (Bulldogs), Aiden Sezer (Bulldogs), Cameron King (Dragons), Boyd Cordner (Roosters), Tariq Sims (Cowboys), Mitch Johnson (Storm) and **Aaron Woods (Tigers)** are the bolters in Stuart's 51-man Blues-in-Waiting squad.

As Stuart readily admits, none are ready for Origin in 2011\. Nor is there any guarantee they will be called up in the future.

But that's not the point. This is all about preparing a pool of players to be ready if, and when, the call-up ever arrives.

The players yesterday met as one for the first time at the Pulman Hotel - a torpedo punt from the Origin cauldron of ANZ Stadium - where they will be based for the next two days.

For the NRL virgins, it was an eye-opener just entering camp, with many meeting Stuart, Paul Gallen and Jarryd Hayne for the first time.

"I'm a bit rattled just to get called, but this is just what NSW needs," said Cowboys front-rower and Gerringong junior Tariq Sims, 20.

"Queensland have shown how successful it can be with their Emerging Origin squad so I'm stoked to be a part of this.

"Hopefully we can all push through as one big group and be a force to be reckoned with in the future."

Roosters back-rower Cordner, 18, is the baby of the squad. The players will undergo one training session at Homebush today, ahead of an address from former Wests and St George coach Roy Masters at the request of Stuart.

I wonder if Roy Masters can instill in the blues, that they are the fibro's, and Queensland team are the silvertails.
just to add that little bit extra spice to the origin series.

Masters is a full-time resident of Melbourne & is essentially a spokeman for the Storm! I fail to see his relevance in rugby league anymore - let alone his relevance to the Blues!!

He is totally out of touch with league in NSW & Qld - and has no connection to the sport except through his mate Bellamy!!
