I have heard and read a lot recently how Pet Sounds was supposed to be a pre-curser to Sgt Peppers. I can't hear any relationship at all. Pet Sounds is just typical Beach Boys beach sounds. In the media pure rubbish is written sometimes.

Yeah I think it might be a big night up there. Anyways you've got it a bit tits up. Pet Sounds isn't a precursor to Sgt Pepper. Supposedly the incredibly high production values and elaborate sound of Pet Sounds motivated The Beatles to raise their game. Brian Wilson went over the wall trying to record his response to Sgt Pepper.

Now if you're unable to appreciate the brilliance that is Brian Wilson then I can't help you.
