Shane Richardson

In respect of Bechara …a lot of people thought the petition and review was going to be a waste of time to be fair … and ultimately the changes implemented lasted less than 2 years, so it wasn’t a success either ..
Somehow I feel HBG are going to rear their ugly, stupid, geriatric heads again and completely stuff our season. 2026 is going too well, I've been a supporter long enough to know it's coming.

Could be ..could be …what would they do though ? Don’t think they will be firing Benji for a while

I guess that’s a matter of opinion.

Personally I’m glad Richo was the one overseeing the negotiations.

I’m not trying to undermine Richardson who is a proven wily administrator…. Most of what he did here though was around setting up the independent commission, which unfortunately is no more, and turning around the financial performance of the club … unfortunately the efforts to set the independent commission part has been wasted ..

Most of the new players that have been brought to the club is because of Benji Marshall..they have said so themselves

The clubs who get that stuff right end up with the better rosters. Richo is also way more footy minded than other administrators, he’s spoken about that a lot on various forums.

The Marshall / Richardson combination is a major reason we are where we are, in my view.

You want a clear example, when he gave the blokes having a laugh a gobful at spoon bowl, that had nothing to do with administration.

Regardless of the worth of Richardson versus Benji on who attracted the players …my original post about Bechara was in relation to the comments he made about the value of a review into the ownership and running of the club …the comments were made before Richardson was at the club

A lot of people were skeptical about HBG giving up control of the club … and I think that has been proven correct

It’ll be interesting moving forward.

We have a lot of players we need to retain and an interim CEO and uncertainty at board level.

Certainly not out of the woods imo.

Yes ..they have a lot of work to do..

I’m also concerned about whether the owners have the success of the football team on the field as their primary objective … looking at the people they wanted to bring into the club to replace Barry and Richo .. the club dodged a bullet there

Things just seem to be drifting along off the field. I hope that’s not the case.

Players like Bula, Makasini and Terrell should be locked up long term by now.

This is my main concern with the current set up. Rich was a good administrator who knew Rugby League. He knew Sheens signed too many kids on Top30 contracts and corrected the balance. He jumped in and brought the Galvin situation to a head. He encouraged Benji to look at KPP over David Fifita. I feel we are lacking that type of knowledge and proactivity in the front office. It can't all be left to Benji. Need another football brain in there.

Exactly mate, look at the Dogs, they are constantly tinkering with their roster. For good or bad, if you’re not doing it, other clubs are coming after your players.

Maybe after getting bashed up by the media, the supporters, NRL hierarchy and the NRL world in general they have pulled their heads in and gone underground hoping everything will blow over and be forgotten

My bold prediction

HBG appoint a left field dinosaur CEO with too little ability and too much ego.

Outcome: fans embarrassed, team can’t stand him… etc etc
