Sharks fined $1 mil, Flanno gone for 12 months

Don't know why the public are portraying ASADA as the bad guys here… This is a body that has a responsibility to both uphold the integrity of professional sporting competitions and an obligation to protect players health by investigating claims such as those at Essendon and Cronulla. Coupled with the fact that certain people did not want to co-operate, this has only drawn out the process and made it harder for ASADA to collate the necessary information.

A bit of hyperbole here for you, what happens if it comes out that the peptides being administered to Jonny Mannah accelerated his cancer and ultimately contributed to his death? Will everyone still be behind Cronulla and Flanagan then? Will ASADA still be harangued for investigating this?

For Christ's sake, remember who the villains are here.

All employers, including rugby league teams, have a Duty of Care to their employees. Penalties, some very harsh, apply to those employers who are found not to have followed their duty of care.

ASADA are not the bad guys, they are just carrying out this investigation EXTREMELY poorly.

instead of making a big hullabaloo about this 300 days before anything was going to happen except Earle, wait till January 2014 to announce it and then carry out sanctions on the Sharks and players.

very poor investigation imo

As I said previously in another thread if Johnny Mannah was involved and this involves Cronulla ,Cronulla are dead They will be culpable for millions in legal action in this case alone

Correct me if I am wrong, but wasn't the Crime Commission and the then federal government responsible for parading this through the media? ASADA have just quietly plodded along while the media has speculated and made conclusions the whole way through. This is not the fault of ASADA.

i've never heard that, but i havent been following it extremely closely. just a passing interest, most as to who's gonna get done in.

If you're right, then I guess it's the gvmt's fault. But me, and most people, seem to think ASADA are the ones who have brought this to the media, then 'interviewed' people for a year. If they have evidence, use it. I can understand some need for communication but a year's worth? That is very slow and inefficient.

ASADA are no doubt doing all that they can, and were only granted sufficient power to compel co-operation during interviews in August or so last year. Lance Armstrong and teamates systematically doped for years on end, yet were never caught out despite regular testing.

Take off the rose coloured glasses guys, there are plenty of players in our game that are in it up to their ears. I hope they get to penalise each and every one of them and any clubs that have condoned it.

For some reason a lot of Aussies seem to think we are all angels and that only athletes from other countries use drugs to gain an advantage.
