Well yeah top teams raid other teams, probably successfully, given they are top teams. Lower teams raid top teams as well.

I tell you I'd happily give up Paps, Seve, JAC and Jeff Lima to Storm if it meant Roosters didn't take Tedesco. It's not just volume of signings, it's quality of them. Don't think anyone cared Sharks were "raiding" Tigers year on year until they took Fifita.

I'm not digging down to junior position or place of origins. I was just comparing smart purchases of players who were from another club.

Strongee took the current Storm backline and looked at home many of them were from Tigers origins. If you are going to drill down to junior level or debutant level, then the players in question either aren't Tigers juniors, or didn't debut for the Tigers either. JAC was a Souths boy and Koroibete was from Fiji, Seve was from Brisbane. Paps never played for Wests Tigers FG, neither did Hoffman. Jeff Lima is a Kiwi.

Well actually that's not what I meant at all, I meant his schooling and in that regard I got it wrong, Gold Coast.

But you are splitting hairs, I'm not trying to claim all or none of these boys as Tigers juniors, I'm making the argument that every team signs decent players from every other team, whether or not they debuted for that team, or played NYC, or came from a town interstate.

Every coach has a preference for how they want their team to play. Sheens was happy for us to throw the ball around, Taylor took it back to a basic style to suit a team with rookie halves and Madge is a forwards orientated mindset. We might not have the forwards, but it’s definitely something you can see him aiming towards.

Apart from your last sentence, it is all water under the bridge. We really need to stop looking back, it is not productive.

I think we need to give Madge a go, his next recruitment drive will really be his first, if you take into account, money, space in the 30/32 and availability of players that will be off contract.

After that period, then we can express opinions if he is doing any good or not.

Agree Russell i am pro Madge for sure we are in for the long haul i just think he bases his game on forwards. With Souths he had Burgess bros and Sam on fire good half in Reynolds and GI at the back
He is recruiting great for forwards we just need that good tough forward signing that can lead the way and maybe a classy outside back and we will do well

Who’s talking about it? It wouldn’t surprise me, if he impresses enough at training he could definitely earn a spot on the bench to play lock, it’s our weakest position at the moment I feel.

Cleary purchased Capewell which resulted in one less top 30 spot and less $. I guess we have to wait to see if that was the correct decision. It highlights the need to ensure the best of your talent has a clear path to the NRL.
