Sheens a Poor Judge of Forward Talent???

Its all up to the players not sheens…

He can only get players that he think could be good, then give them a chance

then its up to the players to be that good. he cant make them good if they dont have the passion or the drive to be that good...

it seems like a player only goes from being average to really good if

A: been let go from there club and think they might have to get a real job eg.(harrason)

B: want to prove themself to every one eg (Ellis)

C: or are in there last year of contract and want a new one eg. (Heighington)

there seem to be very few players that are good from the start to the end and they are the special one

 was waiting for you to turn up….....and give it to Heighno.......

didn't let me down....... :astonished:

Geez some ppl have short term memories this is always a pointless debate . Ok lets make a list of coachs who HASNT let go a player and he has become a star ? Ill start

??? There isnt one if u single out every coach there would be a list a mile long . Hmmm big money , personalities , contracts , Business , DISCIPLINE , EGOS when u have all those factors to deal with there are going to be good calls and bad calls made its life get over it . 1 thing that has remained constant is that tim a kept a pretty level headed bunch of guys we dont have to many issues with players and they seem a pretty good bunch . I dont always agree with sheens but i look at it HE IS THE MAN that has a front seat view of all the issues a coach deals with not me i just see them at the game and on tele . He works with them ! so ill trust him to decide the future of my club .

Of course Sheens is a bad judge of forward talent, he picks Heighno doesnt he

Come on Sirro, Heighington had a great year I thought. It kills me to know he will leave for the Bears when they finally come to fruition. Harrison was a waste of money & Gibbs will redeem himself next season if he can work on his discipline.

I'm hoping that Flanagan and Junior Moors give it a good run next year.

I only posted that for Geo, but please dont tempt me to get into another Heighno debate with comments like "he had a great year", hahahaha, thats funny, very funny. Even his strongest supporters say he had a poor year, but they cover it up for him saying its cos of injury. I wonder what the excuse was in 04, most of 05, 06 and 07? All years where he should have been in reserve grade.

Sirro, I spoke to Chris on memeber's fan day, and asked him straight, what's wrong mate ….he did say that there hasn't been a game this year that he has played without an injury concern...I will give him the benefit of the doubt for this year, but with the Wests Tigers next year, no excuses for anyone....not up to scratch.....drop any NAME player to reserve grade, as there is heaps of players fighting and jockeying for positions.

Hopefully Sheens will set them all straight in the pre season, that NO ONE is safe, and that every week they run the risk of being dropped, if they play crap...injury or no injury.

Sheens isnt a poor judge on forward talent, his game plans for forwards is poor though

Says andersonsilva.

So you know the game plans do you.

well for 4 years they have been running diagonal instead of straight have been passing at the line instead of bending it so yeah ill go out on a limb and say our game plan is pretty garbage for go forward.

I hope your right about the "NO ONE is safe" thing. I think its a great year with our depth to have that attitude. If the tough calls are made than we'll be top 4.

On Heighno, im going to lay off him now. He's a great clubman and an seems like a good guy. Hopefully he can get over his injury worries and recapture his 08 form, i'd be happier than anyone if he could do it. But if he does play like he did this year, than Sheens needs to make the tough call on him.

Nah mate, dont put words in my mouth please. I think it will come down to a mixture of things. Obviously players like Benji and Robbie will be in the side no matter what, but for the majority of guys it should come down to form. And the amount of bad performances before being dropped will depend on who's knocking on the door in reserve grade.

Not trying to mate…...A big criticism I have of Sheens is that he is way to loyal with players he Thinks will get the job done .....regardless of their personal form.......

I know there is a snowball chance in hell our guns in Robbie and Benj would ever be dropped no matter what......nor should they.....

BUT everyone else should be on notice I agree with you.......having said that I am a believer in stability ....most teams that are successfull do so putting the same or similar team on the paddock week in week out.....

I'm liking your selection policy of selecting players that compliment our playmakers rather than picking the best 17 and fitting them in.........

AH….No....it was just time for a change.........awe who am I kidding.....of course

Forwards that have been mentioned that have moved on such as Tandy and Saffy are hardly worth metioning as quality forwards. My beef is current props that are at the club that are underachieving such as gibbs and galea. I will be happy when development of players such as Fafita and Shirnack occurs. Props have been something that the tigers have been needing in recent years and we are at the cusp of nullifying that problem;- lima, cayless, faffita, moores, shirnack all could go a long way in improving our club and making us a top 4 threat. Now is the time when we see what Tim Sheens is made of….

This thread is a Joke.

It appears as though some of the comments are made by children.

Rugby League as indeed the Wests Tigers are a business. There is on so much $$$ to go round and if someone is not earning their keep or not likly to meet the expectations the must be moved on. Just cause you are allowed to spent the 4.1M doesnt mean you should.

No disrespect for the former players mentioned who have left, They all are reserve grade players who are only really playing games at other clubs due to injury.

As for those claiming that Coach Sheens should go. SHUT IT NOW.

There is no one better that could replace him.

PS - Now that the Rep players get a taste of what he is about and how he opperates, this will further entice players to want to come to the mighty Tigers.
