Sheens attempting to do what he did in 2003, re clearout??

Just saw the latest article in the Tele. Humphries states that there are at least 6 players from the NYC list Sheens has identified as outstanding talents. Players that Sheens believes will have long First Grade careers. Perhaps this clear out is Sheens biting the bullet and gambling decent dollars on players like Sironen and others yet to pay a first grade match. It is a brave move but if these guys are going to be as good as some of them look perhaps a nessessary evil and good long term plan.

I remember back in 2003 Sheens saying he was paying big money to the likes of Farah, Gibbs, Fulton, Marshall, Harrison, Collis and Halatau. Some who had never played first grade because he believed they would be a special bunch. Looking back that strategy was hit and miss, although most of them played a large role in that famous 2005 season. Back in 2003 it was a lot easier to cull as the senior squad was bereft of talent and stature in the game and Sheens was the new sheriff in town. Most people seem to think this batch of youngsters is even better then back then.

NOw we have all heard the 1001 rumours and why all of a sudden this mass clearing of the ranks is going on. Well at least this seems like a sensible and football related reason to start re jigging the squad. Maybe it will only be Adam Blair and we promote 5 or 6 guys from the NYC on decent dollars for next year.

It's a risk and its causing internal dramas. In Sheens we trust i suppose :crazy

FINALLY SOME SENSE OUT OF THE CLUB.

well DONE.

and what is it that makes sense? Sheens wouldn't have to re-build the place if the team he built the first time wasn't an utter failure. The man is a disgrace and should fall on his sword. The only reason he still has a job is coz the board is too spineless to remove him

the cleanout should have started with sheens. get rid of him.

supercoach my arse

We were one point away from the grand final last year.

Sheens won us out first premiership on 36 years. He won it with players that bleed black and gold. If the rest of the fans want to buy a premiership like the roosters did.

Our defense in the past month has been close to the best we have ever had. This year is not over, we will make the 8 and we will win the comp.

Can we please believe in our footy club for once. Midway through 05 we were 151-1 to win the premiership…everyone on this forum talks alot if crap and I bet half havent run let alone play league in the past 10 years. Your opinion dosent matter!

Bleed Black & Gold ?? What about white ??

Todays team is a direct product of Tim Sheens mismanagement and direction. He is responsible. This 'cleanout' is of players that he himself has mismanaged and that he himself has failed to bring to a better standard. You cant compare this to 2003\. That was his first year. It is his fault and no one elses that this 'cleanout' has occured. If he dropped players and promoted them back on performance we would never have been in this position and natural attrition of players would have occured on form. Not on anything else.

Fonz is to blame.

no it's dumb is what it is, there was NO sign of a cleanout at the beginning of the year, so why do it in the middle of the year??

Well if we are going full circle I hope we get to the semis more than 25% of the time over the next 8 years.

Same , different season.

…and yours does matter does it Andy??

FTR quite a few people on here have played the game.

As has been said by some people, atleast there is a method behind the madness. Makes me wonder had we not signed Sheens and the Panthers got him, how many of these kids would have went with him? i guess we are lucky we won't find out

What doesnt make sense is why all these blokes were re-signed and then rissoled. Why go through the pain of contract renegotiations just to sack them after it is all completed.

I have no problem with the cleanout but why has it been done in this way?

If you have no problem then whats the big deal….why all the complaining.... who knows the real reason but i know sheens is no dope.IS there anyone we letting go that you think is wrong....Let them prove sheens wrong....they havent so far.

A clean -out is necessary when youre stuck in the cellar & going nowhere.per 2003…weve just come off 3rd place last season,re-signed a bunch of these same players who got us there,& with juniors coming thru all we required from outside was to plug a few gaps.
Thats what normal(ie well managed) teams wld do.
What Sheens has done is panicked & totally destabilised the club
I actually think Teflon Tim's inability to develop young talent is the real problem....he covers this up with a "clean-out",but truth is he simply cant get the young blokes with real potential coming thru NYC up to 1st grade standard,& is embarrassed by the achievements of Bellamy & Bennet
Only 3.4 years to go of our pretender

I think the clean-out is simply cap mismanagement. The club will be fine though. Give it time. This year isn't over and next year will be a different story.

The only thing that will stuff is is if we pay a marquee signing too much.

You're kidding right ??

Mr Sheen will leave his coaching position at Wests Tigers in his will to be passed down to his decendents.

It will take an act of parliament to have him removed.
